A coincidence, the last time I saw Curson was with the Arvanitas trio. I got the chance to see him several times, including once with his burning 70's octet and once in a quintet with Nick Brignola. Curson will be missed. They are worth it, even at full price. An interesting shelf-clearing exercise of unreleased tapes and old Leo lps. At least one disc per box set is excellent. I highly recommend the Guyvoronsky/Volkov, Homo Liber, Orkestrion, Chekasin and Vysniauskas discs. Some interesting stuff on the Andrew Solovyev/Igor Grigoriev and Vapirov discs as well. I consider these 4 sets essential documents of late 20th century Soviet jazz/improv, especially vols I (Kuryokhin, Ponomareva, Vapirov) & IV (Ganelin members) Get these while you can, especially at these prices

totally agree - I find that discographical information can be initially erroneously entered then perpetuated through the years & from discography to discography look forward to your findings

Did TM record "Honeysuckle Rose" once or twice for Columbia There's a bit of confusion surrounding this track Version 1. Studio trio (Gales & Riley) version from March 2, 1965 -> this session was all solo material except for Honeysuckle... This title was released on the Columbia LP "Misterioso" (not had a US release on CD), a mixed bag of live/fake-live tracks According to Robin Kelley's book (pp 371 & 544) Teo Macero added an applause track & sourced it as live at the Village Gate - it was actually the studio version Version 2. Live (Jazz Workshop) Nov 3, 1964 - an incomplete version according to the Lord Discog (CO 85107) first released on the double LP "Always Know" in 79 This is supposed to run for about 10mins according to info I have; It wasn't released on the double Workshop CD from the early 2000's - wonder why? (non Monk material??) I don't have any Columbia copies of this title (vinyl or CD) There is a version on the triple Monk Columbia compilation from the early 2000's - is it an alternate or actually the released March 2, 1965 version (with or without applause) or the real "live" version from the JW Also, was this title really recorded at the JW or was it "faked/tweaked" too What version is on the euro CD release of Misterioso Any Monk scholars or others with access to these LPs/Cds out there who can help me out

thanks for the link Interestingly another 10" I picked up was the first Martin Denny liberty release "Exotica" - again it contains the 10 titles that were released on the 12" in the US This 10" is listed in BSN - APB 1000 London (UK) series - it has the same catalogue number as its UK counterpart (HB-U1079) - the mono version was on a 10" while the stereo version was on a 12" I'm sure i've read somewhere that the stereo version was rerecorded at a later date hence the 12" stereo release - I don't think this would apply to the Chris Connor LP ie 10" mono & 12" stereo releases but who knows?? http://bsnpubs.com/london/londonamerican/1londonam1000.html

The solo Herbie Nichols recording is very interesting. would have pounced on that (any Herbie Nichols material) but it's a bit recent & not in the sale list

Leo did the same thing late last year I bought a truckload of CDs from him last time - probably do the same again this year trying out Simon Nabatov with my first order - any advice from fans out there

will stick with all the individual CD's
