  1. I agree I've been picking up his Atlantic releases released via Japan this year (5 so far) - with 5 more to be released in Jan/Feb 2013 that was mentioned (Verve set) as a likely candidate years ago
  2. The first edition of Cook & Morton also reviews a large number of LPs plus the Mosaic sets up to the early 90's (was not the case in later editions) - highly recommended
  3. Jonathan If you want an idea of how well Horace sells (or doesn't) maybe you should talk to Tom Albach (Nimbus West Records <info@nimbuswest.com>) - he's been HT's mainman since the late 70's I wonder how many people on this board would be interested in seeing this released (Giant Is Awakened)
  4. Kaoru Abe 7CD set (1970-73) - any Kaoru fans out there? Trio X 7CD set (2006 US Tour)
  5. dig the new interface
  6. pm on Ben Allison - Peace Pipe (Palmetto) punch through barcode $4 Ben Allison - Riding the Nuclear Tiger (Palmetto) digipak $4 Yusef Lateef - Psychicemotus (Impulse!) 2005 digipak reissue, small scratch/mark on cover $4 Howard Alden - Take Your Pick (Concord) w/L.Tabackin on six tracks $4 John Butcher - 13 Friendly Numbers (Unsounds) digipak, 2004 re-issue of the Acta album $6 Uri Caine - Gustav Mahler/Dark Flame (Winter & Winter) $6 Anita O'Day - Anita Sings the Most (Verve) $3
  7. Jonathan I would have thought that Horace T had/has a reasonable fan base thanks again
  8. Jonathan what about Tapscott's "Giant Is Awakened" - you had mentioned that previously with the Carter-Bradford FD Was really hoping for that one as would all HT fans
  9. Jutta Hipp release looks interesting but correct me if I'm wrong - looks like it's only an LP release MDT (UK) has the CDs for £ 6.75 (£5.12 for those of us who don't have to pay VAT) http://www.mdt.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=jazz+haus&t=general&order=most_viewed
  10. Just checked both of these sites - I think you can only trade throughout the US (non international)
  11. It's coupled with "The Golden Striker" on a Collectables CD
  12. Anyone got the Armstrong or Ellington sets yet? Any further info on SQ/mastering/remastering Import CDs have both Armstrong & Ellington sets at a good price Armstrong @ $36.29 with the current 10% discount promo, takes this down to $32.66 Ellington @ $34.09 with the current 10% discount promo, takes this down to $30.68 I've ordered the Ellington but a bit hesitant on the Armstrong - as the discs follow the 80's Sony individual CD's tracklists, I'm concerned they will be using the old disc masters The 2000 remastered 4CD set contains quite a few titles not here (I've got this plus the remastered 4CD RCA set) - 6 of the 10 discs
  13. received mine
  14. when I place my order(s) via email, Leo always sends me a reply/confirmation
  15. A coincidence, the last time I saw Curson was with the Arvanitas trio. I got the chance to see him several times, including once with his burning 70's octet and once in a quintet with Nick Brignola. Curson will be missed. RIP. my post was also lost but here goes again RIP Ted - will miss you but your music lives on will have another listen to the Wolfgangs Vault download of his hot octet at Newport (NYC, 76)

  20. They are worth it, even at full price. An interesting shelf-clearing exercise of unreleased tapes and old Leo lps. At least one disc per box set is excellent. I highly recommend the Guyvoronsky/Volkov, Homo Liber, Orkestrion, Chekasin and Vysniauskas discs. Some interesting stuff on the Andrew Solovyev/Igor Grigoriev and Vapirov discs as well. I consider these 4 sets essential documents of late 20th century Soviet jazz/improv, especially vols I (Kuryokhin, Ponomareva, Vapirov) & IV (Ganelin members) Get these while you can, especially at these prices
  21. yep!! ordered "Contrabasses" in my most recent order - have to agree with Stefan
