  1. I think you're confusing Mobley with George Coleman. Tony wasn't even on the scene yet when Hank was with Miles. Bertrand.
  2. How is the last track spelled on this version, and who do they give composer credit to? Thanks, Bertrand.
  3. My wife wants to get a Blu-Ray DVD player. What was that model several here were very happy with that was all-region, all-format? Was it Oppo? If anyone has a link that would be great. Thanks, Bertrand.
  4. That's a lot for 'transportion'. Bertrand.
  5. I don't know - that album title will fill your head with numbers, and surely that can't be good for you. Bertrand.
  6. Update: I called, and they may be offering downloads soon. I'll call theme periodically to check the status of this. They played a little bit of the first track for me over the phone. It sounded like it could have been a variation on 'Turn Over Baby'. I'm getting more and more curious. The LP is only about 20 minutes or so. Bertrand.
  7. Keeping an eye out for Larry Young's Contrasts. Since we can assume BN U.S. is done putting out reissues, possibly forever, the Japanese will be our only source. Does anyone have a contact for someone involved in their reissue serries? Perhaps we could submit wish lists like we used to send Michael Cuscuna. Like a lot of people here, I'm pretty much done with Blue Note and have moved on to other labels, but there are a few holes I still need to plug. I ordered Heaven On Earth from Dusty Groove (the bastards) and am waiting for Horace Parlan's Movin' And Groovin'. Bertrand.
  8. The cover will be updated tomorrow. This was a manipulation error on my part. Bertrand. Update: this was taken care of.
  9. This hard to find CD by Freddie Redd is now available for downloading at CDbaby, and will show up soon on iTunes, Amazon etc. Freddie put this out himself 10+ years ago, and only 1,000 or so copies were pressed, so it's hard to get a hold of. This group of musicians based in Sweden runs through 8 of Freddie's originals. It was a homecoming of sorts since Freddie had a successful stay in Sweden in the late 50s. I highly recommend this. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/FreddieRedd Bertrand. Disclaimer: Freddie wanted to make this available in this format, and several of us helped him navigate the technical side of things. I have no financial interest in this whatsoever; just helping out a friend.
  10. This may very well be the first 'live in Brittany' jazz album ever. Brownie? I wonder if there's a version of '8-4-6-3-9-9-9' on this. Bertrand.
  11. He's a Jazz Master now. 'Nuff said. Bertrand.
  12. Hotep Idris Galeta is the same person who recorded with Bobby Hutcherson as Hotep Cecil Bernard, or so I believe. Bertrand.
  13. Easy enough - did you know that NEA awarded the Jazz Masters' award to not one, not two, not three, not four but all five Marsali? Orrin Keepnews was also in the mix. It was the worst day of Christiern's life. Bertrand.
  14. Happy birthday, your first as a married man! Bertrand.
  15. Is this still available in record stores in France? How much do they charge? Bertrand.
  16. Is the track with Larry Young which was originally released on Nine To The Universe available on CD or as a download? Thanks, Bertrand.
  17. Would anyone have an extra booklet? Mine came damaged, although I did not notice it at first. Bertrand.
  18. I do have it on vinyl, actually but I am hoping to get the CD. Thanks for the ebay auction link - I'll think about it. Bertrand.
  19. Years ago I saw a Japanese CD of this Dewey Redman album. I stupidly passed on it, and have never seen it again. Any ideas of where I might be able to find it? Thanks, Bertrand.
  20. I'm so glad they issued this! Can I get it in the States or do I have to go the import route? Bertrand.
  21. Speaking of Horace Silver At Newport, does anyone happen to have a spare copy of the booklet from the physical CD? Thanks, Bertrand.
  22. This is probably the only time it will ever be out on CD. Definitely a rare opportunity for Wayne lovers. The title track is one of my favorite Shorter compositions. This version is far superior to Miles' version. Bertrand.
  23. Happy belated birthday! I can't believe you're only a year older than me and you're going to have two daughters in College. My son is still in Elementary School! Bertrand.
  24. Anyone else hear anything? Bertrand.
  25. Great set. This is the kind of Butch Warren retrospective that I've been trying to see happen in D.C. for years, but I kept hearing 'he's not ready, yada yada'. Bullshit. 'East of The Village' and 'Eric Walks' are stand-outs. Bertrand. Pierrick Menuau: saxophone Jean-Philippe Bordier: guitar Pierre Christophe: piano Butch Warren: bass Mourad Benhammou: drums Radio France, Studio Charles Trénet, 5/22/10 Sharon And Angie (Butch Warren) East Of The Village (Hank Mobley) Barack Obama (Butch Warren) Little Chippie (Butch Warren) Laura (David Raskin/Johnny Mercer) Eric Walks (Butch Warren) I Remember Monk (Butch Warren) * The Theme (Kenny Dorham) Blue Bossa (Kenny Dorham) * I'll have to double-check this one.
