Interviews on Sunny Murray & Sonny Simmons ESP CD sets
peterintoronto replied to romualdo's topic in Discography
Did ESP buy the rights to 'Sunny's Time Now'? Still kicking myself for passing on a Japanese DIW pressing with the 7" for $50. Ah well, found the DIW cd on discogs for $10 shortly after. -
This is essential stuff: http://www.ptd.lu/films/taking-the-dog-for-a-walk.html It is a thoroughly vital and engaging film and it gets my highest recommendation. Plus there's a bonus disc of interviews and an audio disc of Steve Noble, John Edwards, and Alex Ward. It also features our very own Alexander Hawkins! 10/10.

Found out that Stephan Crump's name is pronounced 'Stuh-fawn' when I introduced myself at his show with Mary Halvorson the other night with a 'Hi Stephan!(Steven)" I was promptly corrected.

What's the most you'd pay for a CD/Album?

I think I spent thirty or forty dollars (each) on two of those Knit Classics/Survival Rashied Ali reissues. Money well spent. -
Just got my annual order in. Sale ends tomorrow for those who are interested. I clicked 'send' on PayPal, and received the message 'Your payment is being held due to regulations'. Odd! Ordered 'Mad Dogs on the Loose' last week. Hoping it's not the same LP-styled presentation as the 5-disc set! -
Great news! Thanks for posting.

Finally got around to disc 2 this afternoon. Best enjoyed on headphones at high volume in solitude! Absolutely incredible music. I am a better person for having heard this recording.
