Marilyn Bergman was an Oscar, Emmy & Grammy-winning lyricist, not a composer. She and her husband Alan collaborated with Marvin Hamlisch ("The Way We Were"), Lew Spence ("Nice 'n' Easy"), Quincy Jones ("In the Heat of the Night"), Michel Legrand ("The Windmills of Your Mind") and many others. "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" was composed by Legrand, with lyrics by the Bergmans.
Hey guys, it's 5 days into the new year and we are woefully behind in our annual donations. If you're a member, give. If you post every day (or more), give some more. Thanks for your consideration.
Betty White has left us just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday. I liked so much about her - her comedic sense, her good-natured personality and her love and advocacy of animal rights, to name a few. Rest easy Ms. White, and thank you.
John Madden, a legendary figure known to one generation as a Hall of Fame coach, another generation as the sport’s greatest announcer, and yet another generation for the video game that bears his name, has died at the age of 85.
The NFL announced Madden’s passing today.

Henderson ended up treating the jazz great Thelonious Monk as a patient, when the latter was struggling with his mental health. "They really didn't know what to do with this gentleman. He gave them a fit," Henderson says. "After they found out that I knew who he was, they allowed me to take him to his gigs. It was just a little bizarre; that's the best way I can put it."
