  1. It's not complete - I know of at least one more Jeff Palmer LP he is on.
  2. The lineup (from three different sessions) includes, in addition to Poindexter: - Eric Dolphy, Sonny Red, Jimmy Heath, Clifford Jordan, Pepper Adams, Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter, Elvin Jons on the first session, - Phil Woods, Sonny Red, Clifford Jordan, Sal Nistico, Pepper Adams, Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter, Charles Persip, on the 2nd session, - Phil Woods, Gene Quill, Dexter Gordon, Billy Mitchell, Pepper Adams, Gildo Mahones, Bill Yancey, Charles Persip o the 3rd session. Do you really need to know more! Thanks Brownie! You make a pretty convincing case! Go for it. It's one helluva sax fiesta!
  3. Sorry to hear that, Joe, and relieved at the same time they didn't touch your instruments and equipment. Take care!
  4. Not quite what you requested (in the middle between The Prisoner and Maiden Voyage), but still:
  5. Alan Praskin? Didn't he live in Germany, at least for some years? I faintly remember seeing him with some German band.
  6. My desk looks similar. Just take it outside before you put it on fire, yes? No need to burn up the LP/CD collection along with it ...
  7. From JPC: Dave Bailey - Two feet in the gutter The Brecker Brothers - Don't stop the music * Johnny Coles - The warm sound Duke Ellington - A drum is a woman Duke Ellington - Peer gynt (suites no1 e 2) Duke Ellington - Unknown session Erroll Garner - Encores in hi-fi Johnny Hodges - Three shades of blue * Lou Levy - A most musical fella * Henry Mancini - Combo ! * Pony Poindexter - Pony''s express Charlie Rouse - Yeah ! This listing has the One Foot in the Gutter missing ..... Those marked * are RCA albums - a mixed SONY/BMG venture. Nothing that hasn't been available in some form, but let's see - it's better than nothing.
  8. She's lucky to be honored as long as she is still alive - congrats! So many died who would have deserved it. The prize committee seems to alternate between politically motivated choices and a long list of old grand masters. An old friend gave me one of her books as a birthday gift many years ago, with a note it was her favorite - time to get it out and finally read it!
  9. Agree, pretty frustrating because otherwise they're doing a great job with the reissues I have seen (and heard). And they would have had no problem including this Rudolph on the CD. The reissue clocks in at 54m40s! Plus the prices for these reissues look right I recommend it anyway - it's personnel is a virtual who's who of hardbop sax, a real sax fiesta!
  10. The Rouse includes all three bonus tracks - he plays well on this one, a little different from his style with Monk - if you don't have it, get it, they're cheap.
  11. Just saw at amazon.fr. they included Lanyop AT, but not Rudolph the Rednose reindeer - don't they know how to do proper discographical research?
  12. The two Dave Bailey's are available as a Spanish twofer CD, the Pony was on Koch and Collectables, The Rouse on SONY Masterworks with a half album added that was on a compilation. Nothing I need to buy now. Let's see how they continue. If the Pony includes bonus material ..... there was an AT of one track, and a some Xmas tune from the same sessions, then I'd go for it.
  13. You could open a nice business selling some rare stuff still available from Concord that some European amazon marketplace sellers ask ridiculous amounts for! Set up your own stock and go ahead!
  14. Not enough guitar solos? On the contrary ... but to be fair, times were quite different.
  15. The ethical question is not that big for me, the way those majors behave and the way European copyright laws are. What I don't like about the OJC of Two Guitars is that they didn't include the half follow-up album Burrell recorded with Barry Galbraith!
  16. RIP - I still hope for an Ayers/Wilson Mosaic!
  17. Summers needs some money ..... They're a nice band, but a little overrated, I think - If I compare them to Cream.
  18. Casual - I hate ties. Now that it gets more chilly I love cord jeans (Joker Harlem Walker is my favorite brand) with a nice shirt or longsleeve t-shirts. Jacket if appropriate. In the summer I love linen pants and shirts. On stage the band is in black jeans or pants and black longsleeve t-shirts. I never wear caps or hats - I still have enough hair ...
  19. Happy Birthday, and all the strength to keep up the good work!
  20. Why do people always post stuff like this here .......
  21. Why do a Coltrane sideman box? The Miles sessions are out already, as is Dameron's date as RVG. The Draper is not that exciting; the Garlands might see a separate reissue. The Hope is nice - but I'd rather hope for another Fresh Sound et al. combined reissue. Remember, the new people at Concord are not as systematic as they appear to be.
  22. You can get Eliahu Inbal's complete recording for a good price on Brilliant Classics - it won't get much better than that.
  23. Have a nice'n'greazy birthday!!!
  24. Brownie linked it (thanks!) - single users pay $ 150 per year.
