  1. Placed my order. Leo Feigin is 85, deserves a retirement.
  2. Thanks. I watched the short documentary and did some further digging. Really interesting sound, sometimes I find the rock element a bit too dominant but more often the fusion works. It obviously sounds very different to some of the Tuareg bands but does put me in mind of them for some reason It's a treasure trove, thanks almost entirely to @kh1958
  3. Yes, Confront CDs are all like that
  4. Never been keen on Gayle since I learnt of his homophobia which I believe was in evidence at one of his Oto gigs as well as well documented elsewhere. But that's just me. No doubt other musicians I listen to have abhorrent views too but maybe not as part of their performances. As you were with the discussion of his music
  5. Whoa! I've never heard of Witch before

    Horace Tapscott

Intriguing, may be tempted by this although the span of years makes it less attractive somehow As long as I don't buy the LP in the final photo
  7. Add me to the completely love crew too
  8. Yeah, it was stifling. Also miss the Red Rose, some great gigs and also union meetings attended there
  9. I was at the Shipp Red Rose gig, great evening. Needless to say I wasn't at the Dalaschinsky but it sounds like an impressive event

Great watch, thanks for posting it.
  11. I am. Preorder up on BC. Strong line up Always a good thing to have a new chapter of this, can't wait
  12. I hope you enjoy it
  13. That sounds so bad I'm almost tempted to stream it
  14. I had no idea that exists, luckily by the sounds of things I saw The Stray Cats live when they first appeared, one of the best live bands I've seen
  15. Sound quality is weakest on disc 1 (I'd say acceptable given the historical nature and importance). Beyond that disc I'd say it is uniformly good. There are only about three tracks on later discs where quality drops. These are live recordings though and probably not recorded for release. This is a treasure trove of great music across a spectrum of styles all featuring great work by Skidmore. If that interests you, I'd say buy without qualm, you'll get hours of great music with less than an hour in less than perhaps ideal sound quality.
  16. Yes, I agree it's early days. Just goes to show how quickly most things turn up Thanks, I tend to agree. . It'll probably appear over on the east coast at some point then leap over the water from there. PayPal covers for 180 days so may as well give it a good chance
  17. I'd hoped not to have to post in this thread but... Purchased an LP on 23/5 from Tacoma, took a couple of days to get to Carson (via Seattle) where it sat for a week enjoying a Californian rest. Since 2/6 it's been 'Moving through the network' Thankfully covered by PayPal and a helpful, so far, seller. when do I give up on it?
  18. I wish I listened to it more but there's too much Jazz. I got into them both at the same time and could it quite easily have been reggae rather than Jazz that became the obsession. Still listen occasionally, have to have a dose of The Congos every now and again. There's a guy who sits in my local shopping area with a sizeable speaker on a hand trolley pumping it out at volume. Makes for a good grocery shopping experience
  19. Byard Lancaster - It's Not Up To Us [Superior Viaduct/Vortex RE] Such a great album
  20. I've not got round to listening to this, apologies but any BFT with Augustus Pablo on has got to be a winner

    Ari Brown

His name crops up in discussion occasionally so here's an article that some might find of interest (even if it seems a little like a push for the NIS album, which is very good btw) https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/ari-brown-since-time-is-graviy-interview?utm_source=notification
  22. Unsurprisingly, disc one is mono, so far
  23. To be honest I haven't noticed either way. Disc 6 is I'm pretty sure from listening most recently. I'm sure that if you contact Confront they'll help you out with the details, it's a friendly run concern in my experience. A lot quicker than waiting for me to listen through again!
