  1. Thought I'd bump this thread as I've been really enjoying Sadao Watanabe's 'Paysage' since it arrived a few weeks ago and I don't see it mentioned above. Peacock, Kikuchi, Togashi, Murakami, dream team. Looks like I need to check out the s/t on Sony and the Mariano collaborations next. Also been enjoying the two 'Cantos' albums, one with Togashi the other with Sato by Toshiyuki Miyama's New Herd. Very good, freer, big band.
  2. I thought of that too. I have the 12" single of it somewhere
  3. Thanks for posting that. I rate de Clive-Lowe too but didn't know the Rotterdam Jazz collaboration, great stuff
  4. Particularly interested in the Coxhill and McPhee combination
  5. My O Level French proved sorely inadequate in a similar quest. I agree about the quality of the music
  6. Always connected to another clarinet player, Peter Brotzmann, in my mind. Site of his art studio and where he studied art. And as per my earlier post, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. That's some artistic contribution
  7. Sadao Watanabe - Paysages [CBS/Sony] hell of a band on this one
  8. Toshiyuko Miyama & His New Herd + Masahiko Sato - Canto Of Libra [Columbia], 1976 reissue
  9. Alexander Von Schlippenbach - Globe Unity [MPS, France]
  10. Globe Unity Orchestra & Choir of the NDR Broadcast - Hamburg '74 [FMP] Globe Unity Orchestra and Guests - Pearls [FMP]
  11. Cossi Anatz - Jazz Afro-Occitan [Digger's Digest], 2017 reissue
  12. The more I hear this the more I like it. Bodes well for next week I played that to death in 1976. Probably not heard it in 40 years.
  13. Just watching the TV and 'Zig Zag Wanderer' soundtracks a Hyundai ad. Times change...
  14. Sound quality is good on CD1, very present. A couple of Bennink trademark "explosions" have had me nearly jump out of my seat. As the notes above observes it's not too easy to hear Bailey's acoustic guitar at times but I suspect it wasn't if you were there on the night. I'm looking forward to spending time with this release And, thanks colinmce for the easier to read notes in the original post.
  15. Tettertettet is a winner even if a pig to spell correctly. The trio is very tempting
  16. Probably a lot. Regular releases were often not recorded recently.
  17. Yes, definitely a RSD release this year. Straight reissue.
  18. The Descendents of Mike and Phoebe is great and was reissued by Pure Pleasure last year or so, may be cheaper than the P-Vine issue
  19. Well that was no classic.
  20. I turned the Europa final off at half time so didn't even see any goals! UEFA got what they deserved there for their greed and Arsenal got what they deserved for their performance 😀
  21. Very much looking forward to tonight's match. Two very likeable and talented teams managed by two likeable and talented managers. Tottenham flags apparent in my high street and on cars and vans. Have to root for my local team, COYS!!!
  22. That's almost exactly how I feel about his discography. The run to 'Tunnel Of Love' is great. After that,, the occasional good song but I always check out the new ones just in case. 'Darkness...' is the one for me but probably no coincidence that it was the first I bought on release day having discovered 'Born to Run' a year after release. I know what you mean about the emotional impact too. I liked Echo & The Bunnymen a lot too, up to 'Ocean Rain'
  23. Happens whenever he releases a new one, which I don't buy
