  1. George Russell Septet - The Stratus Seekers [Riverside/Fontana, mono] Another of today's purchases
  2. ECM removed their entire catalogue for a number of years and only reinstated it in the last two or so
  3. Iltar - s/t [Tiwa, 1977] took a punt on this in the local shop this afternoon. Very DIY, including sound quality, but it has something about it. A freer Prime Time perhaps, perhaps not
  4. Steve check out Olie's playing with the Riverloam Trio. I think that will be right up your street. https://www.discogs.com/Miko%C5%82aj-Trzaska-Olie-Brice-Mark-Sanders-Riverloam-Trio/release/3877844 https://www.discogs.com/artist/3817910-Riverloam-Trio Also see if you can hear 'Immune to Clockwork'. Excellent but maybe less up your street. I'm guessing here from what I've read you enjoy, obviously https://www.discogs.com/Olie-Brice-Quintet-Immune-To-Clockwork/release/7231714
  5. I'm more than happy to be advertised to. I was listening to the first album a few days ago, prompted by the FreeJazz review. Order made. Looking forward to hearing it.
  6. I don't know about this one actually. Thanks for raising that. It will be PD under UK law I suspect He's worked closely with other musicians in the past to release their material, e.g. Basil Kirchin
  7. This has just got an LP reissue. From the ever estimable Trunk Records. I'd never heard of it prior to their email announcement. Listening now on Spotify and thoroughly enjoying it. One to purchase.
  8. 'Fats' Sadi - Ensadinado [SABA] finally got myself a copy of this. Sounding very good indeed
  9. Happy Birthday!!!!
  10. Thanks. That's the band I saw I think, certainly that instrumental line-up
  11. Lamar Gay played a great gig at Oto last year. One to follow. Was it a solo set or with a band?
  12. Most recent on Spotify is 'Ma at Mama' so will try that later. Another to add to the thread list Steve Lehman Octet - Mise en Abime And the Steve Coleman run on Pi. Pi has been a good label this century
  13. That's someone I haven't thought about in about twenty years. I'll try and hear that one
  14. Anything or maybe everything released by Wadada Leo Smith this century. The releases on TUM alone stand up as a truly remarkable body of work. Definitely agree about the Matana Roberts trilogy. Then there's releases by what I like to think of as the Chicago scene - Josh Berman, Jason Stein, Jason Adasiewicsz, Mike Reed, Jason Roebke, Nicole Mitchell, Tomeka Reid, Jaimie Branch, Makaya McCraven (not the same scene? but same city). Tim Daisy Rob Mazurek's small group and large ensemble recordings Irreversible Entanglements and Keir Neuringer's intense solo record And I haven't even got to nearer home and Europe yet. Too many! And Threadgill on Pi, just take your pick of them
  15. I'd read somewhere, don't remember where, that Adasiewicz was taking a break to focus on his young family. May not be true but would explain why his high profile has dipped so much over the last couple of years. Definitely missed here
  16. Definitely looks worthy of investigation. Satoh is at Oto next week, not with Sakata sadly but still worth a trip I think
  17. One of my albums of the year. I like the restraint of Ibrahim's contributions. Gorgeous tunes, beautifully played.
  18. Terrific album. I need to listen to it again, it's been too long. All Otomo's New Jazz Orchestra albums are worth investigating for the adventurous of mind. So are the New Jazz Quintet/Ensemble recordings. Always something interesting and a bit different happening
  19. I admire your dedication and you're reaping the rewards. I've nearly bought both boxes a number of times but I find music presented in such amounts increasingly intimidating. They just don't seem to fit my listening habits any more. Give me a two CD set and I'm happy. The recent DKV is a case in point, great music but just too much of a good thing in one package for me. At least the Guy releases present a variety of line-ups. I guess you know the Dwyer's 'Umbilical', fine album. Agree wholeheartedly about Godard.
  20. I was looking at that over the weekend. I'm a big fan of Pursglove's playing on trumpet and there's not a lot of it about. I'd played his trio with Mazur and Lopez and wanted some more. It may have to be this, thanks for posting
  21. Thanks. I'll take a look for that too. Looks like I can get a Fuchs at a reasonable enough cost
  22. I like the look of the Fuchs, may have to track one of them down
  23. Like you, I'm very pleased to hear this. One of the more intriguing recording series. Info and sound sample http://cstrecords.com/products/matana-roberts-coin-coin-chapter-four-memphis/
  24. Track listing here. https://store.udiscovermusic.com/*/*/Blue-World/68970000000 Might depend on your feelings about alternates
