  1. I am in those "other" dreams. "you know what I mean...nudge..nudge...you know what I mean..."
  2. I've had some podcasters and internet djs pm me and ask if they could use this on their show. By all means, use this for romantic dinner music, internet broadcast, to annoy the neighbors dog, or to feel better about your own guitar playing. Up for three more days. If you have any problem downloading please drop me a PM. g
  3. oh man! "missed it by 'that' much"
  4. I got a discount on mine. They have some with minor finish blemishes. Free shipping. So I only paid 899.00. Yes, I'm the great enabler. btw, I am assuming all went well with your procedure???
  5. Thanks Joe. Sounds like the tour is going well. I am very glad to see it! Your friend, g p.s. Give Randy a "big man" hug for me.
  6. Right on. I tell my guitar students (in so many words): Django said more with two fingers than Eddie VanHalen could say with ten!
  7. Jazz Kat, which Sonny is your favorite? You appear to be very thoughtful about these things, and I am very curious. g
  8. I appreciate the input, and know it comes well informed. I am in the process of building my catalog. And also in the process of learning some cooler ways to solo over God Bless The Child e.g.. I almost always listen to the audio samples on line (if I can find them) before I purchase. But, again, I always am curious to hear what the very well informed music intelligentsia have to say (mean it as a compliment, this time ) Allen, which Sonny Rollins' would you recommend?
  9. Sounds like things are going well. Don't know whose idea it was to videotape that performance and use it as promo. But whoever did it...man that guy is a genius.
  10. I'm gonna have to pick this one up. g
  11. Somedays it don't suck... lol I am having surgery on my left hand next week...and so maybe it was a purchase of psycholocial necessity. They say just two weeks off, (having cyst removed from inside middle joint left index finger (they are doing it inpatient as they have to move some nerves)). So, being a little anxious overall, it will give me something to look forward to.
  12. That looks very tempting! Thank you for posting that!! g
  13. My New Stromberg! Should be here early next week!!! I am working on some Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery stuff. Been very diligent and studious. So.... I told my wife I was rewarding myself. She said, go ahead! She loves me!!!!
  14. I second everything Chalupa said. Well, except the part about them being the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Although my dog seems to like them. Your dog is still young and naive
  15. Free Download High Res MP3 Offering a slow blues burner MP3 from my band, Root Doctor, from our recent release. This one has gotten some airplay on XM as has most of the other tracks, but its selection was kind of arbitrary. First time I've recorded a Les Paul, and the solo is more rockish than what I usually go for...Jimmy's B-3 sounds nice on this one, Freddie is singing his butt off, and the horns sound pretty cool. Recorded analog through the Muscle Shoals mixing consel to two inch tape. So here it is, submitted for your perusal. It will be up for about 4 more days. And they limit me to 100 downloads. If that gets maxed (sent this info out to our mailing list, though most have cd already), pls let me know. I will post some later, and Jim and I talked about posting some live organissimo takes, but he'll probably just do those here. Hope ya dig it. g
  16. Kick some major buttage! g
  17. I'm in Chicago at my hotel, getting ready to head out for some grub and then on to the Hungry Brain to check them out.....! May post some photos in the next day or so. m~ This is exciting. Hope all continues to go well for Johnny and the gang. And can't wait to see some great photos. (no pressure) g
  18. I had considered that...but the guy (who posted) is very white. Regardless, neat video, imo. ????? I was suggesting you contact the person who uploaded the video, on the assumption that he SHOT the video -- not that he was the player IN the video. Misunderstood you. Sorry 'bout that. Good suggestion, though I have to imagine that since he said "unknown" and didn't include a name... But I should drop him a line nonetheless. Thanks. g
  19. Are you sure? Cuz, I don't know. I mean, Jimmy Smith was a hack and stuff.
  20. I had considered that...but the guy (who posted) is very white. Regardless, neat video, imo.
  21. I know it is a long shot. He looks young...but man is he testifying!
  22. You should see this Mint 2006 Japenese Fender 62 reissue body I have here... Olympic White and beautiful. Is there a place around here that explains how to insert pictures? g
  23. This body is not a solid Koa body but a basswood body with a Koa veneer. I think it does change the tone a bit however and I like the way it sounds. As I have alluded to before, my wife couldn't care less about my guitars so if she ever says one looks good or sounds good then I take that seriously. She did comment on the nice sound of the Koa strat, but she absolutely hates the looks of it. Especially the pearloid pickguard which I chose because the Fender Koa strat has one and I think it gives a little accent to the dark wood finish. There were some compatibility issues between the American strat and the Korean body. 1 Althought the neck fit snugly in the pocket, the screw holes didn't allign and I had to patch and redrill the screw holes in the neck. Also the neck sits a little lower in the pocket so I had to trim the pickguard a little. 2 The mounting posts for the American standard bridge are a differnt size from the Korean bridge but in my search for the proper screws, I found a luthier who works out of his gargage and he has access to a machine shop and was able to rethread the brushings for me which turned out perfectly. 3 The pickguard I ordered was not bad, I only had to drill one new screw hole although several others had to go in at a little bit of an angle. I was very pleased with the results. Greg, there's a guy on ebay who sells original strat parts. His user name is reliablefender and his store is The Stratosphere. I think he gets new (blem?) Fenders and sells them for parts. Most of the time the price is a little higher than elsewhere on ebay but you're getting a new, original Fender part. If your patient you might find a neck that slips through at a decent price. Also ebay is a good place to sell those bodies as well. I sold my 1996 American standard body for $255! which is more than I expected from it. There's a lot of crap bodies out there for cheap, but there are a lot of guys who know quality and will pay pretty good money for a good body. My next project is a hardtail strat. I've bought a Robert Cray neck and just yesterday won an auction for a Robert Cray body that I'll be assembling soon. If it turns out as well as I hope, I may sell the Koa strat. Thanks Scott!! Btw, I've got a American Standard body on there right now that I am trying to sell...but it is a bit beat up. Guitar Body on Ebay
  24. ...six posts too long...oh wait...make that seven
  25. How does Koa resonate compared to Alder, btw? Also, how does the neck pocket and neck line up. I have a couple American Standard bodies with no necks. A Japenese reissue with no neck. A Tokai neck (too small for any of the aforementined). And a bunch of parts. I always check your work out with great interest. You do nice work! g
