  1. Did they play anything other than music from the new album and A Go Go by any chance?
  2. Some interesting words in Peter King's column this morning:
  3. Cowboys look terrible tonight. Outplayed and outcoached, for sure. Saints going for an on-side kick when they're up 3 tds is kinda rubbing it in, though...
  4. Thanks, I'm now cleaning my monitor.
  5. S dniom razhdjenia!
  6. Last of the Blue Devils apparently includes John Scofield - is this worth picking up for Sco's contributions, or is he even noticeable? Heck, is it worth picking up anyway?
  7. Out of curiousity, I tried to go to jimdye.com to the backup forum there, but it apparently is shut down. Is this still our contigency destination if this board/host ever have problems? Is Jim Dye still posting here?
  8. Sort of tongue-in-cheek, but maybe Jim can set up a software rule that people can only make posts in the Politics forum if their % of political posts is 50% or less. That would enable the politics forum to be used more as a complementary forum to the main forums (forii?), between people who are here primarily to discuss music, instead of those that are primarily here to discuss politics. Is there merit in that? I know there are arguments both pro and con about the Politics forum, but maybe that would take some of the venom out of the arguments and clashes in there. My suggestion isn't for the purpose of running anyone off, but to encourage contributions to the music-related discussion.
  9. If you do buy one, be careful. There are two editions out there, and many stores are still selling the original, which has "fold down" versions of one or two of the albums included, instead of the proper stereo & mono versions. There was alot (too much actually) of discussion on the Hoffmann board about this. The problem is that Capitol didn't recall the defective boxes, so retailers who ordered large quantities ended up with the defects and can't return them. Consumers who buy them either won't know the difference and will be happy, or can contact Capitol for replacements. I think the "correct" Vol. 2 box will have a sticker with an "SK1" or some text like that in the very tiny print. Otherwise they're pretty much impossible to differentiate.
  10. Tony - there are some free shows that Lesh has made available through the phillesh.net site, at least one of which features Sco. I'm going to soak the one up that I downloaded, probably purchase the Warfield set, and then decide if I want to buy any of the downloads.
  11. Dallas' D is 12th rated against the pass (giving up 198 yds/gm), and 4th against the run (giving up 92 yds/gm). I think it's going to be a good game as well. If they happen to win this one (toughest left on their schedule - Atlanta, Philly and Detroit are still left to play), it's possible they could go 12-4. That would be pretty impressive after starting out a mediocre 3-3.
  12. Noooo! It sounded like "the mommy" didn't even know whether Valerie was male or female, so I wanted to clue him ("the mommy") in. No aspersions meant to be cast on Ms. Bishop! My mind is often in the gutter though, but not this time!
  13. I can recommend both the Nashville (6/20/06) and the Asheville, NC (6/27/06) CDs. I was surprised to hear how well integrated into the band Sco is. Really good stuff I've been finding the "Instant Live" CDs both at the local Borders and independent stores. They're also at Amazon and phil's web site. Only problem is, without being able to see the back cover of the CD which lists the musicians, you can't tell if it's a Scofield or Osby show. There are a couple of Phil & Friends free downloads available through phillesh.net. I downloaded a 12/4/05 concert last night, with Scofield & Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes.
  14. Cross posting this here, in addition to the modern rock thread, in case it gets overlooked... Has anyone picked up or heard "Slow Music", a project with Robert Fripp, Peter Buck, and Bill Rieflin? I'm looking to get this disc, but it was only available during a tour they had earlier this year apparently. If anyone knows a source for this (cheaper than ebay - last one went for $57), I'm interested, thanks! Slow Music Project

  16. He needs to change his name to Teasing the Swede (or Dane, or...hell Scandinavian).
  17. Not music, but I laughed at this (saw it posted on another site). Craig Ferguson/Donald Rumsfeld
  18. Was Wes' jeep involved in any way?
  19. She was married to one, the mommy. I'm sure she knows quite a few of them.
  20. I'd bet the Olds brand will be brought back in a couple of years anyway, much like they've done with Buick.
  21. Well, is samples is all you've heard, then I understand. Just know that her body of work as a whole is pretty much "all over the map" stylistically, sometimes from album to album, and sometimes within albums, and even songs. "Boundaries" of styles are one thing she seems to not be too impressed with! I'm not discarding her, she just hasn't blown me away yet. I own "Routes" and have the Rodcast (I have ethical issues that I even have the rodcast on cdr, but that's another topic of discussion). But none of it has jumped out at me. It's probably a "different strokes" deal more than anything.
  22. Club/trance I suppose, whatever you'd like to call it. edit - I realize there are elements of other things in there, in the samples I've heard.
