  1. That painting reminds me, isn't Free For All's birthday coming up soon?
  2. Question - how come you're buying a suit over in the other thread, and yet you're a "lass" over here in this one? Shouldn't you be buying a dress?
  3. Jetliner pilot locked out of cockpit after toilet break OTTAWA, Ontario (Reuters) -- The pilot of a Canadian airliner who went to the washroom during a flight found himself locked out of the cockpit, forcing the crew to remove the door from its hinges to let him back in, the airline said on Wednesday. The incident occurred aboard a flight from Ottawa to Winnipeg on Saturday. The regional jet, capable of carrying 50 people, was operated by Air Canada's Jazz subsidiary. Jazz spokeswoman Manon Stewart said that with 30 minutes of the flight to go, the pilot went to the washroom, leaving the first officer in charge. But when he tried to get back into the cockpit, the door would not open. "The door malfunctioned ... this is a very rare occurrence," Stewart said, adding that the crew's decision to remove the door had been in line with company policy. A report in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper said that for about 10 minutes "passengers described seeing the pilot bang on the door and communicating with the cockpit though an internal telephone, but being unable to open the door." Stewart said the paper's report was "a bit dramatic" and stressed that at no time had the plane or passengers been in danger. She did not say how many people had been on board.
  4. The edition for sale at Best Buy has a 100 pg book that comes with it free. Has anyone picked this up, and if so, is it worth buying the cd there for the book?
  5. For what it's worth, here is the Beyond the Wall thread. The album has also been mentioned in the more general Garrett thread.
  6. Couw has some made a booklet that is great for this purpose! Plus he's made them for some of the other box sets that some of us have as well! Couw's booklets
  7. seems a bit early to be handing out bowl bids to me.... Army invited to Poinsettia Bowl WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- Before its first snap of the season, Army has been invited to the Poinsettia Bowl. Now the Black Knights have to win enough games to be eligible. Bowl executive director Bruce Binkowski and Army officials announced in a conference call Tuesday that Army will be invited to play a team from the Mountain West Conference on Dec. 19 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The invitation is good only if the Black Knights go at least 6-6. Based on Army's recent history, that could be a mighty big chore. Army hasn't been to a bowl game since 1996, when it lost to Auburn, 32-29, in the Liberty Bowl. "This was the best bowl for us, and we believe we have a great chance of being bowl-eligible," Army director of athletics Kevin Anderson said. "We have to come up with the wins, but we are guaranteed. It would just be fantastic. They all love coach Ross out there." Bobby Ross was the hugely popular coach of the San Diego Chargers from 1992-96. His teams made three playoff appearances in five years, including reaching the Super Bowl after the 1994 season. The Black Knights were 4-7 last year, their second under Ross, who took over a program in severe disarray. Army won only two games in his first season, started last season 0-6, then won four straight before losing to Navy. Army opens its season Saturday at Arkansas State.
  8. Cats make better drivers than dogs, anyway...
  9. Thx, GA. 65% of sale (great for multi-disc sets, better than the yourmusic prices) - code AU06PM2
  10. I can't figure out how to search for the BMG thread (since BMG is three letters, and too short for the current search process), so I'm posting this one here: BMG sale - 65% off w/no shipping - AU06PM2 This is good for double disc sets. Most appear to be $8-10 or so, shipped.
  11. I hope Conn doesn't see this, or he'll really get a big head.
  12. Games are starting this weekend!! Rhett Bomar signed with Sam Houston State University, but may not be eligible to play until halfway through the season, I believe. Be interesting to see if he's any good with the lesser talent that will surround him at SHSU. Is Ohio State the best team in the nation this year? Can Texas do well without Vince Young? Will my Aggie defense repeat as about the worst in the NCAA?
  13. What's frustrating is for those of us who are longtime Cowboys fans who don't like T.O. I am still a Boys fan, but hate what he's doing here. It was a huge mistake IMO for Jones to bring him in. The guy has no contrition, and not a sincere, team-first bone in his body.
  14. Raiders sign Jeff George! ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders signed Jeff George to a contract Monday, bringing back a player who hasn't thrown an NFL pass in five seasons. George, the No. 1 overall pick by Indianapolis in 1990, joined the team in time for Monday's afternoon practice. He previously played for the Raiders in 1997-98, starting 23 games and throwing 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. It is not immediately clear what his role will be on the Raiders, who already have Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walter and Marques Tuiasosopo on the roster. George played with the Colts from 1990-93. He was in Atlanta from 1994-96, then spent two seasons with Oakland and one with Minnesota before joining the Redskins in 2000, first as a backup. He was signed by Seattle as insurance midway through the 2002 season, but didn't play. Chicago signed him late in the 2004 season, but he never played for the Bears either. George, known for his strong arm and clashes with coaches, has a 46-78 career record as a starter and has never lasted longer than four years with any one team. George hasn't played since 2001, when he was cut after two games with the Redskins. In his last two games with Washington, George had a quarterback rating of 34.6, completing 23 of 42 passes with three interceptions. In his next-to-last game with Washington, he and coach Marty Schottenheimer had an animated sideline discussion after George committed four turnovers and was removed from the game. George also had a sideline argument with coach June Jones when he was with the Atlanta Falcons in 1996, and the team suspended him and then cut him. George played well his first season in Oakland, throwing for 3,917 yards and 29 touchdowns in 1997. He struggled with injuries the following season, starting only seven games, and was replaced the following season by Rich Gannon, who was a better fit in coach Jon Gruden's West Coast offense. 15. Can someone tell me when this guy was "fun", as JSngry called it? Insulting someone for stating a valid opinion on something is tasteless.
  16. now drinking flavored sparkling water (i.e. soda without as much guilt).
  17. Hi Brett - I'm interested in purchasing Sonny's cd, not the MP3 files. Can you do some evaluation on your pricing and see if it can be brought down to "normal" prices? $25 shipped is a bit steep. $15 shipped or less seems to be the going rate for online purchases of this nature (see Dave Douglas' website, for an example of what you are competing with, pricewise). Thanks!
  18. plus - Dave Douglas - Keystone (CD/DVD pack) Eldar Djangirov - Daily Living/Live at the Blue Note Diana Krall - Christmas Songs Massive Attack - Collected Lou Rawls - Black and Blue/Tobacco Road ....the Douglas is excellent (IMO) and well worth $5.99!!!
  19. I like the whole thing, and since it's on CD I don't really think of it in halves. I also like alot of Kid A & Amnesiac. I think if you took the best bits from those two, you could make one helluva great album.
  20. Yeah - that Ro-beer guy, I dunno about him, he's trouble.
  21. "You talkin' to me? YOU TALKIN' TO ME??"
  22. The cover's upside down.
  23. Dog medallions, anyone?
