  1. That's excellent news. Thanks for the link, Brownie.
  2. You can mail the Muziek Centrum Nederland / Dutch Jazz Archive. You can mention the Keep swinging blog Durium. I e-mailed them a week ago and have yet to receive a reply. Do you know any other places I might be able to get it, durium?
  3. Two dates are mentioned in the liner notes (April 6 & 13, 1977) but no further details on which tracks were recorded on which dates. My BRUYNINCKX discography shows the same information.
  4. According to my booklet he's the drummer on just two tracks - "Iron Man" & "Symmetry". In fact there's NO drummer on another two - "Diversion I" & "Diversion II".
  5. What an excellent review...thanks for finding it, Chuck. I'd forgotten he guested with Kurt Elling on "Live in Chicago"...Von Freeman also appeared on that one. Easily my favourite Kurt Elling album.
  6. ..............and?
  7. What a fascinating interview. Thank you so much for letting us hear it, Christiern.
  8. This was issued last month by Candid under the title of "Tubby's New Groove" and very good it is too! Details are: 01 - Tin Tin Deo 02 - Visa 03 - Supper At Phil's 04 - Symphony 05 - Hook's Way 06 - The Trolley Song Tubby Hayes - tenor sax Terry Shannon - piano Jeff Clyne - bass Phil Seamn - drums Recorded: December, 1959 London and you're right, it WAS a tape sent to Alfred Lion by Tony Hall. Apparently it was found by Michael Cuscuna amongst the Lion archive sometime in the 1970's and it then lay in a box in his house until being rediscovered in 2008.
  9. I had no idea he'd made that many albums!
  10. Anyone have any news about further Horo releases, legit or bootleg?
  11. Thanks for that, Steve.
  12. On what, exactly? The sound on the new release is stunning. The music is..... well, some of the greatest country blues songs ever put on record!
  13. Is that a euphemism for something "Ryan Giggsy"?
  14. "Little Afrika" is a solo outing recorded on August 16, 1983 in Hollywood. If you like his solo stuff then you won't be disappointed. Tracks are: 1. Niger's theme 2. Tapscott's Thoughts 3. Swing On A Limb 4. Litle Afrika "Faith" has him playing in a quintet with Roberta Miranda (bass), Everette Brown Jr. (drums), Melvin Moore (violin) and Louis Spears (cello) recorded August 12 & 13, 1983 in Hollywood. Tracks are: 1, Sketches of Drunken Mary 2. Faith 3. Yesterday's Sunset 4. As A Child Again it's a fine session and well worth acquiring. If you don't already know, then many of his early recordings can be purchased here: Nimbus West Records
  15. Thanks guys. My order's in!
  16. Thanks for the heads-up but I've never heard of the JazzLips label. I presume it's one these 'Andoran outfits' .... what's the recording quality like?
  17. Thanks again, StereoJack. Ah well... it was worth a try!
  18. These sessions were held in Memphis in 1963. The core band is The Megatons, featuring Billy Lee Riley (guitar, bass), unknown others. Apparently Bo and Jerome Green are dubbed onto several of the tracks: Old Man River, Surfer's Love Call, Surf Sink or Swim, and possibly Low Tide. Bo is not present on any of the other tracks! This information is from Leadbitter & Slaven - Blues Records 1943-1970; Michel Ruppli - The Chess Labels Discography Thanks for that but are we talking about the same album? According to the blurb on the Beach Party album it has the following tracks: 1. Memphis 2. Gunslinger (A/K/A Bo Diddley's A Gunslinger) 3. Hey Bo Diddley 4. Old Smokey 5. Bo Diddley's Dog 6. I'm All Right 7. Mr. Custer 8. Bo's Waltz 9. What's Buggin' You (A/K/A Crackin' Up) 10. Road Runner and was recorded 'live' at "The Beach Club", Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on 5 & 6, July 1963.
  19. This long lost album has recently been re-issued and I wondered if anyone happens to know who was in Bo's band for this date. I can't seem to find a proper Bo Diddley discography anywhere.
  20. Glad to hear everything's moving along smoothly. BTW how are sales doing for "Intents and Purposes"?

So, I guess if they wanted to release the whole concert in it's proper running order, then it would have to be FOUR CDs not THREE.
  23. Could someone give the track listing for the three volumes, please.
  24. This one's a belter. Probably my favourite Bill Holman album.
  25. That's right....thanks! I must dig that out and give it a spin.
