Must respectfully disagree!!! The edition of the Messengers with Fuller is my all-time favorite line-up! YMMV, of course. Lon's usually right, but I don't think he's hot for Grachan Moncur III either. Is it a trombone thing?

I'll get that too. Do you have the recording date(s)? I have a CD on the Japanese 88's label (VRCL 18846)recorded on Feb. 24, 2010. It's called Hank Jones: The Great Jazz Trio / Last Recording. It's Hank with Lee Wong on bass & Lee Pearson on drums. Roy Hargrove sits in on 2 tracks on trumpet & Raymond McMorrin is on 2 tracks on tenor. The music, packaging, production & sound are all quite remarkable.

Watched Treme & The Killing episodes from Sun. on our DVR. Both were excellent.

I agree that this is a very nice CD. Saw this group in person with Scott Colley on bass (everyone else the same)& it was a fine concert.

In your humble opinion - right? Based on something on You Tube - right? I guess you know & hear things that Konitz, Woods, Dan Morganstern,etc. don't. I've heard her twice in person & she was just fine (IMHO). I don't think she's a great singer but her alto playing was very well done. These "debates" are usually fruitless for all concerned, so you can have the last word if you want it. I'm certain there are things that both of us like. Grace Kelly just isn't one of them.
