  1. Yeah - but the "fine print" says that the single purchase has to be an item of list price $20 or more.
  2. MJQ: Odds Against Tomorrow for a really good price on e-bay.
  3. Ethan Canin: America, America
  4. Still waiting for The Long March.
  5. Season finale of Big Love on HBO.
  6. I loved it. BTW, Marquette won too.

    I'll second the Lacy.
  9. I ordered on the 13th. Have not received a "shipped" e-mail. On the website it says "in progress".
  10. Not jazz per se, but Joni Mitchell. Captain Beefheart too.
  11. $12.67 with an e-mail confirming. Hope it actually ships.
  12. I read Rampart Street a while back - good N.O. turn of the 20th century atmosphere in that one (at least as far as I could tell - I wasn't there then ). I want to read some of Fulmer's other books when I find the time. I'm going to read Jass next.
  13. David Fulmer: Chasing The Devil's Tail
  14. Sam Yahel Larry Goldings
  15. I'm going to go see Wendy & Lucy instead, which should be the absolute antithesis of Watchmen.
  16. Astral Weeks was / is one of the great records of the 60's, & I've been listening to it since it came out.

    Tommy Flanagan

The actual price is 3990¥, which is approximately $40.89 (U.S.) — plus whatever shipping charges come with it. It'll be interesting to see what Dusty Groove charges for it (if they stock it). I'm guessing something like $45.99. I've had the music for a long time now. Must resist Japanese packaging fetishism! (At that price, it's actually not too hard to resist.) I know the conversion rates. $45 is more than I've spent in the last 3 months on CDs. I'll probably stick with my OJC copy.

I love Japanese re-issues. In the good old days (last year) i'd have certainly bought this. Right now that's more than I've spent on CDs in the last 3 months. I hate this economic meltdown more every day.
  19. I wouldn't know Giddins if I tripped over him in the street - but, how does what you are saying coincide with his writing (for example) the liner notes for an Intakt CD by Trio 3 recorded in 2005. I suspect he listened to it & to them. I'm not an "insider" like some of you, just a music fan.
  20. Do you know the Palm Of Soul album by these three? To me, his playing on that one exhibits some of the positive things you mention. Of coarse that is the only Kidd Jordon I'm familiar with so I'm no expert. I do like the album though. I like that CD too.
