  1. I remember his playing very well. Would be great to hear him again.

    Charles Lloyd

The Water Is Wide & Canto are both worthwhile too (IMHO)>
  3. I'm not a "fanatic", but I like 'em.
  4. Those are 2 great choices. I really like the OOP Live Mosaic, but the last one on e-bay sold for around $700. At the other end of the spectrum you could get the (you should pardon the expression) Proper Box (4 CDs) for around $20 & go from there.
  5. I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but she was really good in that movie where Woody Harrelson played Larry Flynt.
  6. Coming to Albuquerque too.
  7. That's very true. Unfortunately I've known a couple of people (OK, idiots) who don't play Riot at all because they can't tolerate the sound of the CD. (It's not that bad...sheeeesh.) But if one is really picky get the comp, find a copy of Riot and reburn a Riot from the comp and the one leftover song. Or maybe there's an iTunes option for the orphan Riot song. Things were easier when there was just the LP! The 8 songs from Riot on the comp. are all in a row. I don't know if they're in the same order as on the original LP.
  8. Me too.

    Billy Taylor

That was a long "no comment". Please post a photo of yourself so we can compare.
  10. I have a 2 CD "Essential" set that includes 8 cuts from There's A Riot Goin' On & a bunch of other good stuff.
  11. I had heard that something was in the works with the Lloyd Columbia material. I'll probably get the Blakey too.
  12. I'm glad I didn't watch.
  13. They're in Albuquerque on Mar. 2. Plan to see them.
  14. I saw her live a few months ago too. She & her group were just fine.
  15. I don't think they come "out west" very often. I'll watch for them.
  16. And of course he's on one of the great Mingus albums of all time with Dolphy & Richmond. Essential!!
  17. I think it's called Plenty Horn. On vinyl it was on the Old Town label. Has seen "budget" reincarnation on CD. Well worth it if you see it.
  18. I'd like to see them live.
  19. I really like the keyboard players name. Hope he's good.
  20. I have this on CD.
  21. Compulsion The 2 Louis Smith albums
  22. Lafayette Gilchrist is the unnamed piano player in the first post. I believe he has a "future". I've been hot & cold on Murray but like this new CD.
  23. It's not just you. I still can't get the purchase link to work.
