  1. I have a fair amount of Jazz and Blues material from them. Very thorough presentations, and sound is OK (though not spectacular).
  2. "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" live in NYC 1978 by Dickey Betts and Great Southern. Glorious. He wasn't just "the other guitarist" to Duane Allman and Warren Haynes, though it certainly wouldn't bother me to never hear "Ramblin' Man" again...
  3. Massey was a trumpet player, though for a long time I also figured he must be a pianist from his writing. The guy who was the mysterious local legend who never left town was John Coates Jr., and it could have been him based on some later recordings I heard by him in the early-mid 70's. Not from his lone Savoy album, but that was from 1956 and he was only like 18 when he made it (btw one of the worst album covers imaginable, just for the suite alone). I hear a lot more of the mature Coates in Tyner than I do of John Dennis or Richie Powell.
  4. So I have the 1956 and the 1959-1986 complete run of "Who's Who in Baseball". Would like to find a new home for them and get a little something in return in addition to covering postage costs. Not worried about getting full market value, and am willing to take CD's in trade as opposed to cash. PM if interested.
  5. and who was already deceased by that point. I also think it's probably Hasaan he is referring to. And I've lived in the Philly area since '72.
  6. So I have a ton of Down Beat and Cadence magazines from the 70's and 80's, and some from the early 90's. Time to find a new home for them. Good condition except I have some writing/underlining in the earlier ones from my youthful enthusiasm of discovering the music. I'd like to get something for them (trade for CD's would be fine instead of purchase if you prefer), but am not worried about getting full "market value" for them (whatever that is). Contact me if you have interest in some, and we'll see what we can work out. Since I'm leaving this so open-ended, willing to have more than one person contact me, will not lock them in on initial contact, thanks. Please PM if interested
  7. Wow, would LOVE to hear that, would buy it in a heartbeat. Had no knowledge that Pope had recorded before the 1972 first album by Catalyst.
  8. Who are the musicians on that one? I came up empty on a google search.
  9. Yeah, I bought and was delighted with that one, too. Still need to find an "Elevated Edition" of 'Stand Up' at a decent price. I have the first 3-CD set of that one which came out in 2010. Also want the "Adapted Edition" of 'Aqualung', have the 2011 2CD set. Still waiting for a meaningful expansion of 'Thick as a Brick', and am much less enamored of their subsequent work, am good with the standard CD's from 'Passion Play' on.
  10. Mine did not get assigned a number, shows as " /6000". I should run over to the Hoffman site, where it no doubt would be hailed a great collector's item (as is every version of every CD ever made).
  11. Received this Friday and am playing it now. Despite the understandable concern over the title (which was the originally proposed title for the "Cheap Thrills" album, hence the use here), the music, sound, and booklet are excellent if you were/are a fan. Four albums worth of material (about 135 minutes) for $13 Amazon Prime. I don't recommend the lifestyle, but I do recommend the music. https://www.amazon.com/Cheap-Thrills-Brother-Holding-Company/dp/B07HC3VFGK/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1544036897&sr=1-1&keywords=big+brother+dope Update: Sound is variable, slightly dodgy (but totally listenable) on some of the outtakes, but superb on other material.
  12. $17.99 Amazon Prime. Being released Friday 12/7.
  13. Heath brothers CD received in good order, it was packed well and in great condition, and Fabio was very conscientious in shipping and tracking the order, and is delightful to converse with. Thank you!
  14. We all were...
  15. Thanks. I own the Shepp and the Haden, don't remember any Robinson solos from them, but will check. And will check out some of the other titles, some of which (Peacock, Naughton) I am totally unfamiliar with.
  16. I also received it from ImportCD's today. Description as above, and I have not listened either. But at under $4 per disc, I have no complaints.
  17. I'm not aware of any Robinson dates (leader or noteworthy solo work as a sideman) from the mid-late 60's or early 70's either. Can you fill in any details for me?
  18. Cecil Taylor, Nathan Davis, Hugh Masekeka, Roy Hargrove, Tomasz Stanko...
  19. $26.53 Amazon Prime. I paid about $10 more last month and was very pleased with set. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GRLPXRW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=superdeluxeed-20&linkId=241bbf18eb836e8dbb1544dadc709bd9&language=en_US
