Yes, very well done. BTW, I really like the two albums (combined on one CD) he did for Catalyst a couple of years later. Every bit as good/essential as the Mainstreams.

I realize that I may be the only person in this community who cares, but the complete recordings by legendary Boston New Wave era group Robin Lane and the Chartbusters is being reissued on a 3CD set in March.. Available for pre-order on Amazon. Their classic "When Things Go Wrong" was the 11th video (and the first great song) ever played by MTV:

Then they aren't giving you a straight answer. They had room for about 2.5 hours more of material on those five CD's.
-
That could be.
-
Again, there is tons of space on those discs. Three of them have 15-20 minutes of free space, one has 35-40 minutes of free space, one has an hour of free space, is less than 20 minutes long.

Regardless of what you think of the music, the work of Giles Martin in his remixes of this and Sgt. Pepper's is breathtaking.
-
I'm sure that would be what it is.

They can both hit. Machado is a gold glove 3B and subpar SS, so him insisting on playing SS screams "there's no team in I". Harper had dreadful defensive stats in '18, which concerns me, though I know defensive stats are not as foolproof as others at this point. I'm in Philly. The buzz here is mainly about Harper, especially after Machado's postseason (the "hustle" comments are not gonna play well in Philly), but I wonder if Boros isn't just playing the Phillies to drive up the bidding on Harper, since the Phils have a lot of $ available. We shall see. Either/both would look great in red pinstripes, of course, even with their imperfections, but whether they still will in their mid-30's is a totally different question (remember Ryan Howard - and he was already in decline when they signed him to that contract, though the injury exacerbated it).

Mingus/Strata/Detroit -- NPR
felser replied to Mark Stryker's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
I will also want the book. Strata and Tribe released some really interesting work in the 70's. -
The extra cut is 19+ minutes. There is less than 19 minutes of content on the fifth CD, so even adding that cut would still make the fifth CD less than 40 minutes. So "cryptic" is too good a word...

I got th3 3CD set of the Beatles from amazon for $21.67. Arrived today and stunning.

Has anyone listened to the 40 minute Roy Brooks interview on this set? Worth the listening time?
-
I'm glad to do one, and have been doing December for a number of years. But if you get a rush of new people, I'm fine deferring to them.
-
Not nearly on the level of, say, Sticky Fingers. I don't even own them.
-
Mine too. More of a cliff they dropped off.

He seems different here than in the later, better known version of the group, more "conventional", yet less inclined to certain predictable tricks in his playing. both his periods are good.

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it, We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it. Can you dig it, baby? I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby? The sun peekin' out between the leaves (Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it) And the birds dartin' in and out of the trees (Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it) Everything here is so clear, you can see it And everything here is so real, you can feel it And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real Can you dig it? I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it, We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it. Can you dig it, baby? I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby? I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it, We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it. Come on dig it for me baby! I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby? Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it

Finished the master takes on the set, really happy with it (though I question the "jazz saw" solo on the last cut). Struck me from the package sleeves that all of the musicians involved passed away 2005 or earlier, and Brooks is the only one who saw his 61st birthday.
-
Yes he does. I'm on disc 3 right now. Skipped over the long invterview on disc 2, at least for the present. Any opinions: Is it worth 40 minutes of listening time? Happy with how good the sound is on this set.
-
Really good article, thanks.
-
There was plenty of room on the CD's for it. Wonder if it wasn't discovered until after they had printed the sets.
