  1. If no one else wants the Lin Halliday, I'm glad to take it.
  2. They've already done it one other time. Here's how you should do Otis Redding in 2018, 12 albums for under $40.
  3. Any thoughts or descriptions on this one? Worth my $20?
  4. good to know, thanks. They have long been one of my go-to resellers on Amazon.
  5. I love the second side of the first album ("Handy"/"Phoenix") and all of 'Argus', like some of the other stuff quite a bit, but that is a lot of money, and I'm not sure how many live versions of "the King Will Come" etc. I need (though I need a few). Saw them live at the Sellersville Theatre about 10-12 years ago, and it was still pretty great. Andy Powell and another guitarist, who was great but I don't rember his name, Bob Skeat on bass, forget who the drummer was. Really nice night, though they were incredibly loud.
  6. EBReggae was never heavy on jazz. They were really good for the legit British labels like Kent and BGO.
  7. Where do Kenny Dorham, John Coltrane, Bill Barron, and Ted Curson fit into this discussion?
  8. May be getting their inventory from the same source.
  9. ebreggae was a go-to for me for a few years, and I got a great package of music at one of the liquidation sales while there were still good titles left. Definitely legit (in fact the service aspect was fantastic) and therefore his new venture is recommended.
  10. 7 CD J.J. Johnson Columbia Mosiac box FS/FT. $125 shipped in USA or agreeable trade. PM if interested.
  11. Curtis Fuller Blue Note Mosaic box for sale or trade. $60 shipped in USA or agreeable trade. PM if interested.
  12. $50 shipped in USA for set or interesting trade. Fascinating recordings from his most fertile 1965-1966 period and great 120 page book. This is an extra set, I would not be without this in my collection. PM if interested.
  13. You think that Mobley set took a long time to sell out? Consider how long a Bill Barron issued in this post-CD era would take to sell 5,000 copies (though I'd pre-order it).
  14. Yes, I have had this around for 40-something years and have always liked this one a lot! Very underrated, does not get the love the Changes albums do.
  15. PM sent on King Crimson - Absent Lovers Livein Montreal 1984 (2 cds on DGM) $11
  16. ABEBooks is always a good place to check. I usually can do better there than on Amazon or Ebay for anything other than recently published high-volume books (where no one can touch Amazon for best price).
  17. But it sure doesn't hurt the cause...
  18. Was "Black Saint and Sinner Lady" a heavily edited album? Can't imagine it getting played verbatim as well as it comes off.
  19. Wouldn't the edited solos have been a possible point of contention? Can't imagine Mingus being too pleased about that. @JSngry - Archie Bleyer started Cadence Records, Nat Hentoff (I believe) started Candid Records.
  20. 1 - he wasn't nearly that clever. Sweet but really dumb (sort of the polar opposite of Charles Mingus, I guess). 2 - I take it you're a dog person.
  21. I used to have a pet cat in the 90's that I named Mingus. And ironically, he never reacted in any way to any other music I played, but was fascinated by the cricket sounds at the beginning of Cumbia and Jazz Fusion, and absolutely freaked out at the Tenor calls in Hog Callin' Blues.
  22. Understood on the Hawes trio album. Give him "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady". I came to jazz from 60's/early-70's rock, but immediately fell in love with that one anyways, and it is still the ultimate Mingus album for me, even though as far removed from rock as can be.
