Any advice on how to get .flac files to play?

The big issue wil be the sound quality/sourcing. I would not be shocked if a lot of the cuts are from vinyl sources.

Rooster Ties is being ironic. There has been massive controversy for decades on the Led Zeppelin writing credits, and I have generally found them "guilty as charged". And they most definitely are guilty here (I loved Spirit, play them a lot more than I play Led Zeppelin), on "Whole Lotta Love", on "Black Mountain Side", on "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You", on "How Many More Times" etc. They've even discreetly admitted so at times,with "amended" composition credits. They are hardly alone in that regard, but were incredibly blatant, and there was a lot of songwrting royalty money involved, so it has drawn a lot of attention.

Aren't there enough classic-era Blue Note completists to be able to make a go of it?

The Miles set is two discs, Coltrane and Brownie are both three. These are not budget priced. I don't understand who they think is going to buy these. Not like the music they contain is hard to find.

Coltrane would have Blue Train, A Blowin Session (Johnny Griffin) Sonny's Crib (Sonny's Crib), and Whims of Chambers (Paul Chambers), I guess. Anything else come to mind? I guess the Paul Chambers transition sessions and the live Monk session if they want to include those.

I'm not a fan of the Charly label, dreadful sound, often from vinyl. But the set will be interesting listening and broad in scope (120 different artists for the 269 cuts).

No CD resissue - I've been watching for it for decades.

I have a convoluted history with this box. Got one many many years ago which was mint perfect, but always sort of hated it due to the "unique" packaging. Traded it to another board member. Had trader's remorse as I was not able to replace some of the key albums from it with single discs, and was able to get a decent deal on a replacement box, but that one had some of the glue from the disc holders that got onto a couple of the discs. I was able to get the glue off the CD's OK and they play fine, but now I have acquired the generic Euro replacement, which I prefer, and have the big 18 disc Iron monstrosity available for sale or trade. The lowest I see it listed for is $300, and I see the two on ebay that sold went for $220/$225. I'd let it go for $200 or best reasonable offer in cash or trade, and will include (substantial) domestic shipping with that. Let me via PM know if any interest at all. If not, I'll just go out to ebay with it. Thx.

Indeed. See Quicksilver Messenger Service's classic 'Happy Trails' for a great example of that. The composite take of "Who Do You Love" is masterful.

I've alwasy dugh "Space Track" from that album. "A Soul Experiment" was a mistake, and parts of "Songmy" are a mess, but overall, I really like his Atlantic materail. I also really like his CTI material and the first Columbia album ("High Energy").

You can get the 2 CD expanded Aretha Franklin set and the single expanded CD of the King Curtis set for $25-30 combined, and I think you basically have pretty much everything except alternate takes, correct?

Does the whole Naosuke Miyamoto set hold up as well as that one cut does? Same question for the Ted Curson.
