  1. When they first started doing used CD's, I sent a small sale list (10-15 items) to them to feel out their pricing. No garbage titles, but stuff ranging from common to much harder to find ($6-7 to $25-30 on Amazon marketplace) They were around $3-$3.50 offered for every title on the list. When time permits, I'll go back to them in the future to sell some used CD's, but not the valuable ones.
  2. Was depending on Ebay to keep good to their promised buyer protection if I had a problem. Otherwise would not have.
  3. PM sent to propose trade on: Iron Claw (Vintage/Rockadrome) $9 The Best of The Boston Sound (Varese Sarabande) $7 Titanic - Eagle Rock (Repertoire) $10 The Spoils of War (Shadoks) $10 Marc Moulin Placebo Years 1971-1974 (EMI) $7.50 The Third Eye Awakening/Searching/Brother 2 cds on (Fresh Music South Africa) $20
  4. I presume eBay/Paypal have some way to claw-back the money from the seller. (I can't imagine they would eat the cost of such bum transactions.) They don't. They are demanding that I eat the cost of shipping the set back to Malaysia with tracking number ($38.75) to get refund on the set. I called to complain and get an equitable solution, and got 40 minutes of being on hold followed by 10 minutes of clerk mentality, so I am going to open a claim through American Express and see how that goes. I had already had enough of being abused by ebay/paypal as a seller, and had not bought or sold anything for two years before this. I've now had it as a buyer also. Not worth the grief. I'll stick to the Organissimo community and Amazon.
  5. '...Horizon' is Benson "put in the right environment". It's his masterpiece, and quite atypical for CTI (no sweetener), and my favorite jazz guitar album. The title track from the Hubbard is gorgeous in a prototypical CTI manner. Also, 'White Rabbit' is one of the best "typical" CTI's (sweetener galore, but it all works).
  6. And that's for almost four hours of classic bop in a beautiful package.
  7. Wow, good news? How'd that process work? Protracted any? What did you have to provide as 'proof'? I presume you had to surrender the (counterfeit) set to someone, yes? In any case, glad to hear it. I have to send the counterfeit set back to the crooks, and show the tracking on the delivery to ebay, who will refund my purchase price and $10 ebay credit for my shipping costs. Took a little over a week for them to get back to me with this settlement.
  8. I highly recommend the Art Farmer. Great price, too, and totally dependable seller.
  9. Glad to report that Ebay is giving me a refund.
  10. Duly ordered from Amazon marketplace. It and a '65 concert doubled on a two CD set for $12 + $3 shipping. Based on the recommendation by Jim, gotta give it a listen. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014I7JYM/sr=1-5/qid=1299357789/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1299357789&sr=1-5&seller=
  11. He's a different, less compelling (though more "sophisticated") animal after 'Trust', for sure. That's where I would stop in terms of serious $ outlays also. I have up through "Blood & Chocolate", but just for reference, as they were very inexpensive when I got them used.
  12. In terms of quality or just rarity? Didn't realize he was still playing in public in '68, thought his second absence was 66-72. Man, he sounds lost on the title track of 'East Broadway Rundown', though I like the other two cuts (especially "Blessing in Disguise") just fine.
  13. So, if one wanted everything (which I don't), one would have to buy both editions? Yep, at least in some cases on the early albums. And the differences aren't just a stray track here and there.
  14. If you payed by credit card through paypal, you can initiate a claim with the credit card company.
  15. Or maybe that they do....
  16. Lon, which Evans box are your talking about? Maybe the Village Vanguard box, which is spectacular in every regard (including low price).
  17. Opened set to check it out based on recommendation/info from another member, and it's a knock-off (and defective at that), so need to withdraw it.
  18. Because no other label so cluelessly bleeds and rebleeds the same titles over and over and over again. There actually are some ways I would rebuy yet again some of the same music, if it were more efficiently and attractively packaged, like the three Coltrane box sets of recent years, but individual titles yet again ain't it. However, another Valentines day has come and gone, and I'm still waiting for "Prince Lasha and Sonny Simmons Play For Lovers" to be released. I agree with you, Dave. I stopped buying remasters a few years ago, and I'm often surprised by the amount of attention and discussion the latest reissues get on this board. I would have thought that die-hard jazz fans like us would already own copies of these classic recordings by now, and therefore any new reissue series would be directed at new listeners. Felser, while Fantasy/Concord certainly has reissued many of its popular titles several times, I can't think of another company that kept so many titles in print for so long, even their "limited edition" titles. I don't share your ill feelings toward them because, as I said, I never thought they were directing their efforts toward fans like me who already own these recordings. I have no criticism of Fantasy, who were the ones that reissued those titles and kept them in print for so long. Concord is another matter altogether.
  19. PM sent on Moody/Jones, Ross, LaFitte, and Fuller,
  20. I ended up with two of these off ebay (went for a buy-it-now that was expiring while I still had a pending bid on another that I was sure would not win - but it did win), so want to sell the extra. Anyways, new, still sealed set. $100. Free shipping in USA, cost elsewhere. Would also consider interesting trade, but prefer sale. Please PM if interested. SET IS ON HOLD 2/22/11.
  21. Everybody sing along with Jim "I'm getting cloooooser to my hoooooome"! I actually enjoyed 'em quite a bit in the early, Terry Knight days, but you definitely "had to be there".
  22. Joe Jackson Group live on the BBC 2-CD set.
  23. It was released in the 90s as a Columbia Jazz Masterpieces cd against Holdsworth's wishes. I have it. I find it interesting, but just ok. I find it mediocre and generic, and I actually like 70's Holdsworth quite a bit. Pick up Soft Machine 'Bundles' to hear him shine on the side-long "Hazard Profile".
