  1. Nice Studebaker 'bulletnose', bonus Q - Is it a '50 or a '51, Champion or Commander? "Goat-esque"?! This is an actual term of art, WTF does it mean?!
  2. Big deal, local Saskatoon rockers, Mozart & the Wolf Gang, did this 40 years ago, and probably better. "4Seasons" with a harmonica solo anyone?
  3. Everything I've got sheet music for...
  4. I think if you do the math on the mass being moved, it's actually pretty efficient....no?
  5. Hence the begining of "All You Need is Love"?
  6. Amazing what you learn on Organissimo! I didn't know 'Deck the halls' was a traditional Welsh carol. MG https://www.google.com/search?q=deck+the+halls+welsh&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a the consensus seems to be that indeed it is.
  7. It is, indeed, all that; but, that's not all that it is...
  8. http://www.amazon.com/Time-Of-Peace-Brothers-Baladi/dp/B00004ZDU9 I like this one too, local guys
  9. http://www.site.uottawa.ca/~bernard/ayler_christmas.html haven't heard this, yet Have heard, and do like very much, the Venture's Xmas offering - Frosty (the Snowman) Tequila!
  10. I actually enjoy PBS's Lubinsky-thons, mostly but not entirely for the old clips which I'm unlikely to see anywhere else. I also enjoyed Itzak Perlman saying how much he digs doowop. What can I say, I'm easy to please, sometimes.
  11. I once read an unintenitionally funny article which went to great lengths to argue that Jimi actually dug surf music...
  12. Recorded in a Turkish bath? Indeed - the sound is very murky, sort of muffled by the primeval steamy pea-soup. They obviously had other things on their minds...
  13. I don't know what that means either. Or it could mean (not vulgar Latin) that it's more like Virgal than Dante, or it could just mean that the stuff he's calling vulgar strikes him as somehow crude, which might or might not be a reasonable assessment...
  14. It means the're 'great' but not 'fucking great'.
  15. Why would this lovely record evoke negative emotions?
  16. "maybe we could all be like Phil Schaap" - let's not be insulting, eh?
  17. You're very lucky. My local library has had to cut the hours they're open, due to funding cuts from the local government. (My take is that the politicians feel that the more ignorant the public is, the better is is for politicians.) Definitely no $ available for Mosaic boxes here. To my amazement and delight, we buy almost everything on Mosaic and a fair bit of Bear Family too. Great and expensive library, beloved here in the Peoples Republic of Portland.
  18. there was a great interview in Cadence or Coda some time back, some heartbreaking stuff about Ziggy Vines and his family.
  19. My library (where I work and play) has it on order, thank you voters of Multnomah County!
  20. Seems like an appropriate time to tell my Ted Curson story again: I don't own much of him on record, net even sure what exactly, but I have a very vivid memory of the one time I saw him, literally 'sitting in' at a local venue (don't ask when - 'back in the day') at a front table playing his ass off with one hand, other arm 'round his companion du jour (sp?). Definitely seemed to be enjoying what life had to offer...
  21. I think Frank liked to get toasted...but then don't we all. I'm a wry man myself.
  22. What I want in my jazz is everything that life is, could be and should be. but a little less of fools who have rules 'bout what should be in jazz...
  23. Should have know it would be reissued, does the latest batch come with any bonuses?
  24. That Bitches be good brew, but as far as I know you can't get it anymore. Did anyone here try their Robt Johnson centenary brew, did it make you crawl on the floor and bark like a dog?
