  7. More from DG: Funky and jazzy. This is a gorgeous album, rootsy and yet modern. He began as a percussionist, then moved to kora. Very unusual, and excellent music! Will get to this one next. Outstanding.

  9. Agreed. Glad Atlanta pulled out a win.

  11. I have his AUM CDs and they are very good.
  12. Skins sweep the Cowboys. Lots of happy faces on the way to work today......
  13. I'll agree with all that, but also add that I don't take kindly to music that demands that I pay attention and then wastes my time after I agree to do so. I'm not getting any younger, ya' know, so tell me something I don't already know. But this is definitely not a time-waster or a regurgitation of the (by now) obvious. This is news you can use. Agreed.
  14. No, they are not related. It is a very good record, but not for the casual listener. Very complex, intelligent improvised music that demands the listener to pay attention.
  15. Raise funds through Kickstarter? Maybe a naive question........
  16. The Klemperer is too slow. I much prefer the foreboding of the Schuricht and the bombast of Toscannini.. Get the Schnabel. Wonderful bouquet. Blackberry after taste. To heck with them all. Scherchen's interpretations make Christmas sound like New Years!
  17. Got this one yesterday, and it is a surprise. I would recommend this to fans of Jimmy Giuffre's late 50's - early 60's period, the classic Bobby Hutcherson/Joe Chambers Blue Notes, and contemporary Chicago jazz:
  18. No. But there is a Mantequilla track on the cd. This is a Vampi Soul release.
  19. Got this from da bastids, someone did some crate digging in Spain for jazz. All rare, and surprisingly good. There are non Spanish artists (Lou Bennett, for one), but all the titles were released in Spain during the 60s to early 70s, and it gives a glimpse as to the music scene there, tiny as it must have been. Artists include: Dusko Goykovich, Tino Contreras, Lou Bennett (in a smoking hot organ piece), Juan Carlos Calderon, Ella Fleta, Catelonia Jazz Quartet, and more. I like this better than volumes 2 & 3 of the Spiritual Jazz series on Jazzman.
  20. Redskins have the division lead!!!!! Five in a row!!!!!

  22. Pony up the return shipping -- the seller needs to refund your money anyways.
  23. The Pyramids Phil Cohran Peter Brotzmann Watershed Nicole and Roscoe Mitchell Trespass Trio Kullhammer Marc Ducret The Ex There are so many others, which is a good thing.
  24. Good pick up; great album!!!!!
  25. I am looking for a movie that is sold on Amazon Japan, but can only be delivered locally in that country. I am wondering if there is anyone living in Japan who can help me. Send me a PM.
