Don't apologize. We pick and choose which artist we favor or dislike, regardless of their character. But I have issues when we try to hold them to a higher moral standard that may not apply because it was a different time, different set of rules, and different ideological and intellectual battles that were happening.

Wagner indirectly killed 8 million Jews? This is news to me.

Bluiett isn't that forbidding. I have this set, and it is worthy of reissue, as are most of the India Navigations.

Well, the Kool Aid wore off pretty quick for my team, the Redskins. Special Teams much improved; the defense is horrible, specifically the pass defense. The offense is doing all right, but they have to protect Griffin. Injuries are killing this team as well. Looking at the schedule, if they can win three more games this year I will be impressed.

Agreed. Last night's game, for example.

Begging the question of what happened? -
He didn't get whipped, the defense did; poor game planning and management by the coaches. Sam Bradford is an excellent QB who had a bad year last season. Washington's offense isn't the problem. Once of the worst officiated games I have ever seen, bad calls on both teams.

Picked this up, yet another stellar release from Sterns': What a voice!!!

You just can't walk into a retail store, especially a chain store, and expect to see a wide selection like it was 5 or even 10 years ago. Only specialty store will do that, and they are hanging on by their fingernails. It's online, and that's it.

That's been on my short list to get for over a year now... I have these as well, and second the rec... Adam, buy that set. It's a stunning set, well compiled and researched. The second set is good too, but not as good as the first. Also, this:

Was at my local used cd store a couple of weekends ago, they were playing this album: Never heard this before -- had to buy it, and it has not left my player. One of the most beautiful and complete albums I have heard in a long time. AllMusic.com review link

The new release of Hot Rats is supposed to undo all the things that were "wrong" on the initial cd release -- don't know the details. Anyway, a fantastic album. I tend to favor his 1970-75 albums, which are more jazz flavored. To answer your question, I would do Hot Rats first, then maybe Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Chunga's Revenge, Waka Jawaka, and Apostrophe.

Yeah, DMG is a great store, with helpful staff, but they are not the only game in town. Or, in this case, the internet. I find their prices to be moderate to expensive -- what they are good for are hard to find to obscure or independent labels or pressings, and those are worth the money.

Spectrum Road with Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce, John Medeski, Cindy Blackm
Stefan Wood replied to robertoart's topic in Artists
Just bought this album from Amazon; received in the mail today. Yeah, this is a very good album, though the last three tunes are a bit off, compared to the rest of the album. Not as engaging. Shows how out of it I am; I had no idea Cindy Blackman married Carlos Santana! -

It's a done thing. They want to make sure Strasburg's good for the long haul, as in a having a career.
