  1. Ok........ I concede. UNCLE!!!!! I can keep up no more. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ECK21WO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Preordered it.
  2. I am not as enamored with the British composers of the past century, as I have been of the Danish. Check out Per Norgaard's symphonies, for example. Also, Latin American compser Camargo Guarnieri's symphonies should not be overlooked.
  3. I like Langgaard. Two Americans - Don Gillis and Roger Sessions.
  4. In DC, the Martin Luther King Library (main branch) has an enormous vinyl collection, which was recently moved to a dark corner of the building amidst a renovation and replanning of spaces. Unbeknownst to many, it holds a huge jazz lp collection donated by the once well known dj Felix Grant. It was intended to be put on the shelves for public lending, but it never was. Supposedly they are just sitting in boxes, and because of the stipulations of the donation they can not sell them. Who knows if that has changed.
  5. Expedite the upgrade by making a small contribution. Hmm.......
  6. Most of the twofers from that period had excellent sound quality, overlooked by the first pressing hunter geeks. I always pick up a few if I happen to be at a used lp store for very cheap.
  7. Could be the ugliest gathering of crate diggers in one spot, ever.
  8. "Hipsters" wanting their skronk on vinyl. They have no clue about the sources, whether it was digital or analogue. The prices are somewhat outrageous for what you get.
  9. Geez, $100+ on Amazon for the Mosaic?!?
  10. It depends on your sound system setup. I upgraded recently and found no issues with regards to these sets.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ykpwr8K3M4 Fela!
  12. I agree on the hot remastering. As for the remastered Black Saint/Soul notes, I think they have done a good job.
  13. Amadeus Pro. You can take the large file and insert track markers, and export it to any file type you like.
  14. I'm OK with the remasters as well. Looking forward to the Cyrille and Murray box sets.
  15. http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20130721/REAL_ESTATE/307219987 An engineering event that will go unnoticed.
  16. I ordered the complete Tempo recordings -- should arrive soon. I noticed in October the same label will release a 5 cd set of Dizzy Reece, covering roughly 1954-62.
  17. Got my copy from Dusty Groove today. It is an outstanding reissue.
  18. I'm interested to know as well. I don't mind the DKV and School Days material. But Vandermark is someone I don't need a lot of, and only mixed in with a lot of other musicians.
  19. Support the man, buy em all! I did......
  20. 5 Guys is a local chain exploding to national (and, reading this topic, now international). They were very good when they started, but I found the ones nearest me are too greasy, and I got tired of stumbling all over the discarded peanut shells on the floor. I prefer Elevation Burger in Falls Church.
  21. Y'know, the National Gallery of Art (where I work) has a nice exhibition on Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, and their collaborative efforts with the major artists of their time.
  22. Ordered mine as well. Can't wait!
