Baby Sommer is the bomb on Pica Pica!
  2. Mario 3 and Mega Man 3 were awesome. My friend had both, and we played them to no end. Loved the hack in Mega Man 3 -- if you pressed right plus A on the other controller, you could jump twice as high and jump out of things that would kill you. Love those 2D scrolling games.
  3. Or an audio podcast of some rough takes of things y'alls be working on? That would be sweet.
  4. I find myself in the same camp of "listening not to the words." That is why I enjoy vocal music in languages I don't understand.
  5. A perfect digital copy?!? Are these people out of their minds?! Internet streams are at best low quality with lossy compression and at worst completely shitty (like 64kbps streams that most radio stations use). That doesn't mean people won't listen, but they are certainly NOT perfect digital copies of CDs. Ridiculous. That's true, but I have a very decent sounding digital recording of Organissimo's performance on Blue Lake a year or two ago. I just ran Goldwave while the show streamed and the results are more than listenable. There are some stations that stream at 1411K uncompressed, the same level as CD. That is better than FM quality. KEXP in Seattle is doing this. I requires big tubes, but you can do it.
  6. Nine discs + DVD. That's a lot of ghost trance Braxton! Dig the video!

Series of three duos from 1975 with Bailey on electric guitar and Oxley on drums and electronics. The fourth piece, a solo Oxley item, is from a recent concert Zorn put on in memory of DB. Fascinating music. It is hard to determine at some points where Bailey's guitar ends and Oxley's electronics begin. Part of the fun, I say. To elaborate on an earlier point, it seems that they frequency range of the electronics he used were more limited than that in widespread use today. Some EAI practitioners create sounds in the dog whistle range. That can often be startling, and likely the point in some cases.
  8. same here, and I was bumped up.

Any thoughts on the new Derek Bailey/Tony Oxley set on Tzadik? Got it from emusic on Saturday. More electronics from Oxley than I thought. Interesting to hear what electronics were used in live improvisation in 1975...
  10. Oh yeah, Google helps...
  11. Man, if I lived within 300 miles of Austin I would be there. Saw them once, and it was one of the best shows I ever had the fortune of attending. Are they doing any other dates in the US? Where to find info?
  12. Holy crap, you did okay with that auction!
  13. 8 year old gospel drummer prodigy:
  14. What comes after plant 2111?
  15. On the David Gilmour live DVD released a few years back Wright made an appearance to sing "Breakthrough" from Broken China. Netflix has it, and it is worth it for that cut alone. Beautiful melancholy tune.
  16. I would like to hear George Benson play free jazz.
  17. Not to go off topic, but a recent download from emusic was this delightful sax/drums duo:
  18. FWIW, they are available at eremite.com for $14 -- worth every penny.
  19. This disc is killer. That price is a bargain, as I sold an extra on ebay for $75! Ehlers said that they pressed up 400 copies of it.

  21. Better fidelity and it would have been seen as a classic. One of my favorites as well. They were mining a different vein there.
  22. -13 in this part of MN this morning. -15 is forecasted for tomorrow morning!
  23. Did he reply to your email? I was told (by a very reliable source) that he doesn't know how to access his email account. no, he did not.
  24. I read portions of the writings for some research while in college. I was confused by his use of the word "vibrational" in a number of different contexts. I even emailed him at his address at Wesleyan. Should have asked him in person when we met at a concert some time ago. He used the word a whole bunch, IIRC.
