New T-Shirt / Merch Company w/ Blue Note images
Rooster_Ties replied to bluesForBartok's topic in Artists
Quite a good selection, and much better (for my tastes) than the jazz shirts that Gear has (I think that's the company). Also, make sure you scroll up and down the whole list of names too --- cuz there's more names then just what's shown on the screen at any one time. Also, they're sorted by alpha, but I think there were one or two down at the bottom that were out of order - so if you're looking for somebody in particular, scroll through the whole list. -
I used to like Rogers with The Firm, back in the day (Jimmy Page's first post-Zep project). Could be interesting. Probably a hell of a lot worse choices they could have made.

Absolutely, without any doubt, hands down, The Prisoner. Edit: Also, if this helps any... Nearly 12% of the people here rank "The Prisoner" as their favorite Herbie Hancock BN album. <<-- clicky linky!!!

Ever seen anyone play the piano with their balls??? (Hafta pick your video-player o' choice first.) -
What is that? Liquid kitty? There's a good explanation for everything... And, just for your birthday Couw... to go with those Freedom Fries... I even got you ALL the ingredients to make your very own Hello Kitty™ brand Mayonnaise!!! (Don’t all Europeans put that Mayo glop on their fries??) Here ya go!!! (And as with many presents: "Some Assembly Required"... as in, you'll have to put these together yourself with Photoshop. ) PLUS

I think I have one SACD hybrid (the latest "Yo Miles!!" released), but perhaps I'm forgetting about some other one (that I probably don't even realize is a hybrid). Probably goes without saying that I don't have an SACD player. (I don't even have a DVD player yet. ) I generally run with moderately priced "bookshelf" audio systems, so I don't see getting an SACD player anytime soon.

Happy, happy day, John!!!!! Have you run out yet, of what I got you last year for your birthday??
-
YOURE ALL WRONG BECAUSE THE MORE ACCURITE QUOTE FROM ARIC IS "HELL YEAH!!!" IT DONT COUNT UNLESS YOU GOT THE CAPSLOCK ON COMPRENDAY??
-
No, that's Laura. Dexter's Xmas quotes comes only every other album... As I was saying...
-
And aren't there quotes from one or more Christmas songs in his solos -- on every other Dexter Gordon album??
-
Worked for me, got sound, and it loaded damn quick too.
-
I'd return it, or get it replaced. I can't imagine a cracked CD lasting for 10 or 20 years, and maybe it'll give out in less than 10 months (or 10 days!!) -- who knows?????

Posting this here, from another ("might as well be a duplicate") thread...

One mo' time... Edit: In fact, this party has officially done moved over to the "Snoop as Miles" thread. Mgraham, your Mingus post (up above) is already there. Suggest you follow it...

Spontoonious just got his hands on used copies of Doug Carn's "Infant Eyes" and "Revelation", both on CD, and was kind enough to loan me the discs for a week. Listened to both tonight, and I'm blown away!! And I'm normally not one for vocal-jazz, but these two bands are so damn tight -- and the Jean Carn's got a vibe that's not the least bit corny in my book -- I'm sold!! Gotta find some copies for myself someday, and maybe get Carn's other two Black Jazz releases too. Has anybody here ordered from the Black Jazz website directly?? Seems to be the only decent place to get 'em, as Dusty Groove doesn't have any in stock right now, and they only seem to carry one of them on CD anyway (at least according to a search of their site). The Black Jazz site order process is driven through Paypal, and looks decent enough (kinda low-tech, but it appears to do the job, with a minimum of bells and whistles -- which I like!!). Can anybody here confirm that they've come though for them in the timely way, without any hang-ups?? (Meaning ordering through the Black Jazz site directly??) They also appear to have "OK" prices too. (Certainly not what I'd call "killer bargains", but at $14 per disc, plus $1.50 shipping for the first disc, and $0.50 for each one after the first -- that's at least not highway robbery.)

Excellent advice!!!

Piano-trio dates NOT lead by the piano player.
Rooster_Ties replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Completely forgot about the Roach/Hasaan record. This one was never got on my radar, for the longest time -- again -- probably cuz the piano player's name wasn't on the spine. -
When I was in high-school (in the mid 80's, I graduated in 1987), I got into a bunch of the music my parents would have been into --- if they had been fairly young (early 20's) when I was born. BUT, my folks were old enough to be my grandparents when I was born (my Mom was almost 40 when I was born in 1969), and my Dad was almost 45 then. I went through a huge Hendrix phase in high school (again, we're talkin' mid-80's here). Had all the official releases, and two or three dozen bootlegs too (back when they were still on LP). I went through a fairly big Beatles phase before that, when I was in junior high (circa 1980-83).

I'm guessing this is probably the point/joke.
