  1. I would like to be watching TV one night and tune in on Larry King asking Kenny G "So Kenny what's it's like being a fairy fucker pentatonic parrot food horn blower?". The image of Ethel Merman being Axl Rose is very amusing.
  2. Somebody asked me the other day if I had a Kenny G Christmas album and my reply was "No Thank God!" talk about a lump of coal in your stocking-actually more like a lump of shit-yuk!!!
  3. Usually I wind down from a day by watching some TV and that usually works for me but not last night. My brain was still processing the days events and sleep was out of the question. When I was able to let go of it for the night then I was able to get some sleep. Everybody relaxes in their own different way but if you can't relax and let go of the days events then sleep can be real tough.
  4. RT my man I had a rather lenghty reply for you but before I could finish it I got called away and by the time I got back the machine had logged me off-arrghh!!! In a nuthshell Rooster you might be in the unhappy position to take a job that you really don't want but maybe that's what you have to do right now. Don't accept that as a permanent condition. Hang on to your dreams amigo because you might be able to dream your way into a situation that really is you.Hang in there.
  5. Brutal simply brutal.
  6. "Morning" is on the Tjader cd "Here and There". I believe a version of it was on that Clare Fischer album that I stupidly parted company with and there is a version of it on the Poncho Sanchez cd "Afro Cuban Fantasy" that features a vocal by Diane Reeves.
  7. I was actually keeping a fairly straight face right up to the time I sae the Insane Clown Pussies and then I derailed. When I got to Big Al's comment about the organ trio there was no way I was going to get backon track. Those are some truly weird pictures.
  8. I would like to cast my vote for Green Corn tamales-though they actually use yellow corn-done right they are fantastic. I also like Chicken tamales. I have a friend here who just finished making a large amount of both and I'm gonna get me some-YOW!!! Jazzmoose,Jazzmoose you scoundrel, you hooligan, you non tamale eater. You live in Cali and have never had tamales- I will bow my head on your behalf!
  9. I saw Clare Fischer a couple of times with Cal Tjader and enjoyed his work both times with the Tjader group. I own the Fischer cd "Rockin With Rhythm" it's one of his jazz group with voices effort with a Brazilian slant and I like it a lot. I visited his web site and checked out the discography which had several efforts along those lines recorded back in the early 80's one of which was a grammy winner. I had one of them but stupidly parted company with it-why I don't know because I liked it too now both of them are OOP . If you like that kined of approach then you might like "Rockin In Rhythm". Fischer among his many collorabirations include several apperances on Santana solo cd's. A very talented man is Clare Fischer.
  10. B Frank I agree with you on the selections of Dave James and Jacman and I like yours too. I'd like to add to that Fraternity of Man, Credibility Gap and the Pentangle.
  11. I'd be figuring out a way to get out of the hole and I'd have 750,000 chances to get it done.
  12. Happy Birthday couw. Dig your avatars.
  13. The more Jazzbo's the Merrier. Welcome.
  14. Ok a few highlights Patato was born November 4,1926 in Havana,Cuba. Vocalist Miguelito Valdes wanted to take him to New York about 1946 to perform but still being a minor he needed parental permission for a passport-permission denied-so Miguelito took Chano Pozo instead who took Patato's place in Dizzy Gillespie's Carnegie Hall that featured Afro-Cuban and Jazz elements which were really starting to merge at that time. Prior to coming to the US Valdes worked with Perez Prado and Benny More among others. When he came to the states one of the first recordings he worked on was Kenny Dorham's album "Afro Cuban". Valdes worked with Machito prior to hooking up with Herbie Mann. Valdes's association with Herbie Mann lasted nine years and one of the albums he recorded with Herbie "Live at Newport" is really good but I"m sure that describes a lot of the work the two did together. Other people that Patato worked for included JJ Johnson,Willie Bobo,Grant Green,Cal Tjader,Quincy Jones and Dizzy Gillespie. Patato also toured with Diz,Quincy and Tito Puente. Other highlights include apperances on the Bill Cosby show and a guest apperance on Cosby's short lived remake of "You Bet Your Life" and he also gave Brigette Bardot a Mambo lesson in the Bardot movie "And God Created Woman". Hope that helps some.
  15. I've had people who I work with get nailed by it but it hasn't hit me yet and I hope that it stays that way.
  16. You say potato and I say PATATO. Great conga player. He was featured on several Herbie Mann cd and has been an in demand session player. Also has done some solo work.
  17. Happy Birthday Senor Sangrey and many more where that came from. Your presence online and your insight are definitely appreciated by this poster.
  18. Charlie Rich aka "the Silver Fox" had some huge country hits in the 1970's and I believe Charlie dabbled in jazz too. Charlie Patton is one of the reasons Mississippi Delta Blues enjoys a legendary reputation.
  19. Oh man that hurts!!!
  20. It seemed like a high amount of releases RT though that isn't necessarily a bad thing. By the way is that Flavor Fav in your avatar?
  21. Is 30 RVG's a normal amount of releases for that time frame?
  22. Lou Donaldson.
  23. Number 26 for the Broncos CP helps Denver puts muzzles on the dog pound.
