  1. Okay assuming that punches were thrown and one or more contributed to the demise of Mr. Parker it probably wouldn't be considered murder from a legal standpoint unless there was evidence that Blakey went to the apartment with the expressed intention of taking Parker's life but manslaughter might be a possibility. I would like to know where Soupy's proof is that any of this went down the way he said it did? Charlie Parker was/is one of the most brilliant musicians who ever has been on planet Earth but Parker by all accounts was not exactly a saint and probably made some enemies and it would not shock me if Art Blakey wasn't a saint either that is something that I could believe. Parker and Blakey were both otherworldly musicians but just like everyone else they had pluses and minuses and unless there is proof to the contrary Blakey did not deserve to get villified the way he did by Soupy.
  2. There may be a way out of your- ahem!!! dilemma but I'm not for sure on that,The way you described the meal sounded pretty good and Damn i didn't know you could get chorizo in Austraila. I wouldn't feel to guilty or embarrased about it if I were you but if you're planning on having it again anytime soon just allow yourself some space so you can avoid the social ramifications.
  3. Sounds like a pretty neat set if you could fork over the cash. BTW thanks Out to Lunch.
  4. I liked Krall on "All for You" and I liked the Ogerman date. Tommy LiPuma had to call in all his markers to get Ogerman to do it but it was worth it. I even have her Christmas ep .She's not my favorite in any category but I do like her.
  5. I'm sure I won't get much agreement on this but I liked his Atlantic dates especially when the band became electric. I also like "Compared to What". EH was sure enough funky.
  6. Maybe the reason this guy writes under an alias is that he knows none of this true. It just doesn't make sense. First of all if the NYPD had probable cause to arrest Blakey I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have done it and even if jazz publications swept such a story under the rug it would have been known in the jazz community and who the hell would have wanted to work with Blakey after that? Everything I've read indicated that Charlie Parker never met a substance he didn't like. Bird lived fast, loved hard and died young and it seems to me that his choice of lifestyle contributed to his early and untimely demise. I just have one other question from a legal standpoint can you slander a dead man because it seems to me that the Blakey estate would have a hell of a case against Progesso whoever the sob is.
  7. Wasn't this festival that nearly ended in a riot because some city clown cut the power?
  8. Pardon my Ignorance but what's the dollar equivalent of 15 euros ?
  9. Thanks Jom for giving us this cool place to hang out and if you want to set up something for dinero for the site I'm in.
  10. The Dodgers are in the process of an ownership change and assuming the sale goes through the new owners will have to make a decision on whether they will keep GM Dan Evans and manager Jim Tracy. The sooner they make these decisions the better because the Dodgers have a lot of work to do this offseason.
  11. The one who I have issues with is FEDEX . I did a UBID transaction and FEDEX took one look at my hispanic name and apparently concluded "HMM he must be running drugs!!!". They opened the package and what do you know no drugs. FEDEX resealed the package and sent it on down the line. A few christmas's ago I ordered some christmas cd's through Tower who shipped them FEDEX and they never arrived. I can assure you that I will do my level best to make sure I never have to use FEDEX ever again.
  12. Point duly noted. The jazz world like other forms of music gets reissued a lot and in many instances this is not a bad thing I just don't want to see anything bad happen to Horace at the hands of some record label that's happened far too much to far too many artists over the years who didn't deserve it but if Horace is the buisnessman that you say then this shouldn't be an issue. The optimist in me is rooting for that outcome.
  13. John L - I hope you're right about not worrying about Horace being exploited and whether or not Horace has it - still has it- is the question. I hope so.
  14. Martin Luther King and the head of the blues royal family B. B. King.
  15. Hey he'll make the lizard crawl in the rematch.
  16. I wonder if she knows what's in those Chicken of the Sea cans?
  17. I'm optimistic that the optimist in you is right at least I hope so. If those guys are trying to exploit Horace I hope they get shit in their Christmas stockings for the rest of their lives.
  18. Yeah they probably didn't have one where Denny has been hanging out recently.Congrats B3-er and your'e right the more exposure the merrier.
  19. Or playing it on his guitar or harmonica. Catesta whereever you are right now "Happy Birthday" and here's a brewski or twoski for youski.
  20. Nothing shocks me anymore. It just seems to get weirder and weirder. That art work is pretty bizarre but as long as you can get the cd's out with incident I guess it can be lived with. Beyond that all I can say is "Beam me up Abie!!!
  21. Arizona does this every year and has for some time.
