The Yardbirds were one of my early favorites unfortunately they didn't have any RVG's working for them but maybe Rhino did what they could with those tecordings. I'll have to look into that.

On the whole it's interesting to see what constitutes oldies is evolving but it seems to be evolving from one sorry mess to another.
-
Come to think about it you are right. At one time Cream,Yardbirds,Hendrix singles did receive airplay but now that I think of it not on oldies stations. They're more likely to play Herman's Hermits or Disco and that is absolutely criminal.

Stumbled on this thread searching for something else, and noticed that the Kansas City "oldies" station that used to be "50's and 60's" --- is now "60's and 70's". Funny, the same image hot-link still works, just their logo has changed (well, that, and their format). My bet is that the "50's and 60's" oldies stations are going the way of the Dodo bird, as did the "40's, 50's, and 60's" stations that existed as recently as 10 or 15 years ago. (I know, I worked on-air at an AM/FM set of sister stations while I was in college -- where the AM station was 40's, 50's and 60's.) Up, for no good reason. I had a conversation with a KCMO guy who was passing through this area. If I converse with him again I'll have to remember to ask him about this?

Mike it was the first one and I spent part of my day today tracking it down and I was successful. I will make an effort to reacquire it as well as acquiring the second one-I already have the third one. Damn I wish he didn't have so much oop stuff.

There was a Clare Fischer with voices he did back in the 80's I've been looking for. On the whole I've liked most of what I've heard from him.

I get in the mood for the Moodys every once in a blue moon but then it passes. You're right Ron they do project a creepy image-it looks like they would rather be doing Tom Jones songs.

Well. Aren't you the ungrateful one. OOPS! I take no credit whatsoever! Nah man, I saw a whole generation of guys turn into clueless pseudo "sensitive" types thanks to Elton, only to have their hormonal chain simultaneously yanked by Grand Funk. Garbage on both ends, and it showed as the years passed. You can blame the worst of 1970s Heartland American Young White Male Behavior of the 70s (which is to say almost of of it) almost entirely on Elton John & Grand Funk Railroad. And if there's anything left over, add Gary Muledeer to the list. Not me man. During the 70's I didn't listen to a lot of radio except the "progessive" but sometimes they'd put those dudes on and that was about the time I dialed out. The only other radio I listened to was the sports outlet in Phoenix. Other than that I contented myself with getting stoned and listening to my albums(mostly jazz and blues). The only things that have really changed for me is now I listen to my cd's(mostly jazz and blues)and I don't get stoned anymore. I will confess to listening some to Billy Joel but never to Grand Funk(never was into them)nor Elton(I never could stand him.)

People who steal things suck...

You guys are comedians. I was just looking for another way to describe the loser boys invading Jim's neighborhood without using standard issue obscenities. -

Jim I hope the little weenies are caught but the advice for caution is sound because the weenies could be packing heat. -
What a force for good. If you're looking for something good in the human condition you don't have to look any further than John Coltrane. I'll forever be chasing the Trane!!!!

Greg could the one that Ron did with Jimmie Vaughn be one of the Wild Kingdom cd's? My first memory of Ron was seeing him with BB King's band one night at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. I've always liked his playing but I only have one of the acid jazz cd's. I've got a feeling that will change.

I really think that it helps to have common interests-not that it guarantees that you'll go the distance but I think that it improves the chances. For me it was well after the fact that I realized that my ex and I had zilch in common. I was bagged and tagged the moment I said "I do". I totally agree with making time for one another . It's just too damned easy to get caught up in whatever you're doing and even easier to drift apart. Also, like many others have said here keep the lines open-talk to one another. Before my ex said she wanted a divorce she put me through a fair amount of bullshit. If she would have just come right out and said "I want a divorce" we both would have been spared a lot of pain. She divorced me three weeks before Christmas-it took a long time for me to start enjoying the holiday again. At the time I coped with this by constantly sleeping. Just in case I'm coming off like I'm putting this all on her I really don't mean to I bear as much if not more responsibility for the marriage's failure as she did. If I ever get married again I'll do a lot of things different and I'll work like hell to get it right.
