  1. Are you volunteering Guy?
  2. Cheers fellas. Now which ones again.
  3. Problem is mate, I got holiday pay last week and it's burning a hole... I know it's either a few of these or a few new RVG's.
  4. Unfortunately Lon, YourMusic only ship to your neck o' woods. I've looked at Caiman and co but no joy for a cheap box yet
  5. .... Jeez she really does look like my missus on that pic. Just holds the mic differently. edited for spoolingh
  6. ...or go for particular ones first. I can afford maybe 2 or 3 this month, which ones? Or do I wait for the box at the 'right' price. I would possibly go the box route as I've had lots of enjoyment from my other Miles' boxes. Sorry if it's bin' dun. Just need reassurance.
  7. YEOWWWWWWWWW! geez, do ya think she means it? Since when has that mattered with a nekkid bird....
  8. A bit too Whoa- a-whoa-W-WHOAAAHHHHH for me. She undoubtadly has a good voice but the subtleties of a good soul voice i.e. Aretha, aren't there. Or if they are, she don't use them. From what I've heard of the latest album the material is patchy too and gets tired very quickly. She's a damn fine fillie though
  9. Type your name in link. NOT safe for work. Well most offices anyway.
  10. I take it this isn't experience talking is it Randy?
  11. So it's not going to be Gilad Atzmon then
  12. Never seen that. And I must say it's one image I can't metally envisage; Miles being Miles whilst Jools Holland breaks into another boogie-woogie vamp. Trendy crowd watch on.
  13. Just thinking actually what creative capacity Miles must have had. When he put his playing on the back burner at the end of his years he still had the vim to turn out pieces of art, and not just chocolate box painting-by-numbers either. Makes you wonder if, for instance, Picasso had been any good as a drummer, or Pollock had played sax
  14. There was an exhibition in the North-East about 5 or 6 years ago featuring what sounds like the same collection. Very diverse stuff but very intense nonetheless. From what I remember his use of colour was quite extreme and jarring, not unlike his early-70s music. The pencil drawings didn't stay in my memory so I'll have to dig out the accompanying book I got from the show. At the time, the two guys who were showing his work were a drummer, jazz drummer in his late 50's and a bloke who happened to be from the next village along the hill from me. Small world. Worth seeing.
  15. Happy Birthday Evan. All the best fella.
  16. Friday: Snow, hail, sleet and cold northerley winds. 2 deg C through most of the day. Sunday: 16 deg C, sunshine, top down, sleeves up and sweat on. Don't you just love British weather.
  17. First time I have read through the liner for this disc. He most certainly is a 'sugar-free' alto player , although he does play sweetly at times. I've always been a fan of McLean's sound from first hearing 4, 5 & 6. You can't think of other adjectives to describe it but the ones which are widely thrown at him; acidic, tart, bristling, acrid etc. His takes on ballads have always been listenable and far from routine, which makes a change. This album though, would have IMO, worked well as a trio date even. That is, without Jackie. Davis's solo on the first tune is wonderful and the rhythm section just burble, bubble and pop underneath. Not much 'bashing'. Not that I can hear anyway. You can't really get a crisper drummer than Higgins can you. One good choice for AOTW. Not a bad recording too. Given that a very bright RVG was recently issued of McLean's, I'm pleased that this version doesn't render his inherent 'brightness' totally atomic glare.
  18. You have too much time on your hands.
  19. I always thought my birth year was a classic one in terms of rock records; Déja Vu by CSNY, Roxy's first album, Led Zep III, LA Woman (I think). The first Sab album. I might be one or two years out but I do think 1969-1971 produced some fine stuff. Then again 1991-1993/4 some great stuff. Soundgarden's Superunknown, Siamese Dream, the first two Suede albums, Pavement's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, Nirvana's big two, lots of great Stereolab and Sonic Youth stuff. Debut by Bjork. Wow, could go on forever.
  20. Lime. Because it just is. Alright.
  21. Again, unfortunately iPod constraints mean that this album has been sat on my shelf unlistened to (well, 2 or 3 times). So I shall dig it out this afternoon and give it the once over.
  22. Beautiful, evocative city. We were last there two autumns ago, at the same time you plan to visit. You don't go to Paris for the weather! I mean, you have as much fun when it's damp and drizzly as much as when the sun shines. We had a big mixture. The old streets around the base of the Eiffel are gorgeous, as is most of Paris. The left bank was bustling and hipper-than-thou. Marais was probably my favourite district; strewn with cafes, patiseries and art shops, although we didn't stay there. We were about 4 floors up in a rather bijous 3 star called Hotel des'Arts. The rooms were connected by the most basic of air conditioning systems whereby one could here the husky sounding blonde coming to orgasm at least 4 times during the night . Interesting. The high point for me was a chanson bar called La Limonaire just around the corner in the 9e. The gig was hilarious even with my patchy French, the guitarist was like Zappa and the food was simple and delicious. It was made all the more enjoyable by the fact we were crammed in like sardines quaffing Cognac alongside some rather delectable young students . Go.
  23. I don't mind his gutteral punctuations but Inside Out has a fair few 4 or 5 moments. Actually there are times when it sounds like all 3 are climaxing.
  24. Wouldn't mind going down into those blue bits.....
  25. My 90 seems a tad optomistic given the general lunacy of my family and the fact I'll probably be knocked over by some inebriated half-wit whilst out cycling. Yeah. You're right in thinking I did have my fair share of them this morning
