  1. one of the best of them covers!!! the 'typing' on "Right Now!" is up there too!
  2. just one guess allowed? Joe Henderson
  3. had melon in Portugal that was soaked in some liquor called Medronho ... wooof ... that'll screw you up big time!
  4. Mom salts as I recall, bananas too!? Grandpa used to salt his beer (and mine when I was like five) he also ate onions like apples and limburger and braunschweiger sammiches. Best techinique of his was to put a big swath of butter on the side of the plate, salt and pepper it and then put it on one side end of his corn on the cobb thus buttering it while en palate. Kept the mess way down. Maybe the next poll of around or typewriter style on the corn?
  5. BUT WHY THAT YELLOW!?!?!
  6. merits of the content are as chewy sez ... the (re) issue at hand might have to go before Hans for his take on that recent digi heavy 6XXXX series.
  7. helps to listen to the above in this voice: man...
  8. yeah, might be a tad of smoove here but was this music not the basis for it all ... where would kenny be if it weren't for... organissimolinkycdnuniversey i do like her voice. her other set is on Schema as well and has a bit too much of that mod-redundant-pigeon-head-bob-club-beat to pop it into so called dance music.
  9. Newish to me release by Rosalia de Souza: 'Brasil Precisa Balancar'. This time around she's under the helm of Roberto Menescal rather than Nicola Conte. A much more traditional "jazz grouping" take rather than the "clubby" work on her first record. Will appeal to that "morelenbaumx2 guy"
  10. the squirrels in my neighborhood are a tougher bunch.
  11. How close were you to the loud guy in the audience whose screaming almost drowns out the band? man i remember when i got that box long ago ... pulled off my woofers and went in and strangled that guy - actually i just messed up his hair which really made him mad. WEEEHOOOOO!
  12. a guy at work here, near forty, had been having throat probs with nasty halitosis and coughing up stuff and his regular doc couldn't figure it out. sure enough he's got to have them old tonsils yanked. my Mom had viral labyrinthitis last year and it goofed her up big time. feel for ya after hearing her stories. not to be outdone tho Dad scored a heavy duty case of "shingles" that still persists almost a year later. THAT is some crazy pain!!! Rod, that neighborhood you live in should help I would imagine.
  13. thanks ... I had a few downloads left on a trial run and scooped the three blues from the "Jazz, Blues and Moore" album. I think some of the tunes on that goofy looking comp might be from the "Bedazzled" soundtrack. Your fellow countrymen over on the AAJ are no doubt singing praises and well they should after listening to "Sooz Blooz" just now.
  14. Hans is not only watching baseball, but at 4:30 AM? Ball games are live on cable TV over here, but unfortunately (for me) mostly in the middle of our night... You clearly didn't take a peek at my profile His walk-off HR was amazing Console yourself in knowing that my 11 yr old daughter did not get home from Fenway til 1 AM. Her FIRST Sox game!!!! Having Manny and Papi et al... (two guys who's posters loom above her bed) get things rolling and finish it off like they did has turned her head around. One sweet game for the memories! Sure wished I'd been there. Now it looks like I might be needing to off some jazz to afford more tickets.
  15. have a riot! something to read the politics forum by.
  16. Just ran across a new release today that features a slew of folks having fun for the little ones. The art is not my cuppatea but the sounds sure beat Raffi with a switch. Courtesy of Rope A Dope rekkids: babylovesjazz! ... at least check Medeski etc on this one: duckellington and "organissimo" could do w/ a link there
  17. One of the first 45's I ever bought!!! I remember sitting in front of the folks one piece "cabinet" and listening to the "stereo effect" like it was "Whole Lotta Love" or somethin'.
  18. ... at least in NYC you don't have to ask.
  19. jeez you eee eww guys, doesn't that wolff have a wicked FN cool turntable thus enabling his superiority complex. bow down on your FNEEZ. Mel's probs are machts nichts.
  20. and just when i thought they were finished!
  21. I like the Frenchiness of this one - Mabern lays down beautiful groundwork and Shepp sours over the top just to keep you from making it background music. Kind of like taking a nice pee in the Tuileries.
  22. just playing around with an e-music trial and lo and behold: Barry Adamson - 'Stranger on the Sofa' dwnld cut: "Who Killed Big Bird" - a big greasy boot in the tailfeathers did ...
