a guy at work here, near forty, had been having throat probs with nasty halitosis and coughing up stuff and his regular doc couldn't figure it out. sure enough he's got to have them old tonsils yanked. my Mom had viral labyrinthitis last year and it goofed her up big time. feel for ya after hearing her stories. not to be outdone tho Dad scored a heavy duty case of "shingles" that still persists almost a year later. THAT is some crazy pain!!! Rod, that neighborhood you live in should help I would imagine.

thanks ... I had a few downloads left on a trial run and scooped the three blues from the "Jazz, Blues and Moore" album. I think some of the tunes on that goofy looking comp might be from the "Bedazzled" soundtrack. Your fellow countrymen over on the AAJ are no doubt singing praises and well they should after listening to "Sooz Blooz" just now.

2006 MLB Thread
Man with the Golden Arm replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Hans is not only watching baseball, but at 4:30 AM? Ball games are live on cable TV over here, but unfortunately (for me) mostly in the middle of our night... You clearly didn't take a peek at my profile His walk-off HR was amazing Console yourself in knowing that my 11 yr old daughter did not get home from Fenway til 1 AM. Her FIRST Sox game!!!! Having Manny and Papi et al... (two guys who's posters loom above her bed) get things rolling and finish it off like they did has turned her head around. One sweet game for the memories! Sure wished I'd been there. Now it looks like I might be needing to off some jazz to afford more tickets. -

Just ran across a new release today that features a slew of folks having fun for the little ones. The art is not my cuppatea but the sounds sure beat Raffi with a switch. Courtesy of Rope A Dope rekkids: babylovesjazz! ... at least check Medeski etc on this one: duckellington and "organissimo" could do w/ a link there

One of the first 45's I ever bought!!! I remember sitting in front of the folks one piece "cabinet" and listening to the "stereo effect" like it was "Whole Lotta Love" or somethin'.

Archie Shepp - Black/Blue Ballads
Man with the Golden Arm replied to BeBop's topic in Recommendations
I like the Frenchiness of this one - Mabern lays down beautiful groundwork and Shepp sours over the top just to keep you from making it background music. Kind of like taking a nice pee in the Tuileries. -

Man with the Golden Arm replied to Man with the Golden Arm's topic in General Discussion
only got a chance to set the hook once and she got away ... should have brought that lacrosse stick for a net .... -
Well every Hammond Forum needs it's proper footing. Zipped by here last weekend from this side whilst trying to nab some stripers with the fisherman next door (and btw his better half's footwear ARE jive-ass!) Link to the historical page: HAMMOND Organissimo owes itself a tour when on tour!

I sold the Sony Japanese issue of Zorn's "Cynical Hysterie Hour" when I heard it was to be re-released by Tzadik on eBay for over $150!!!! I guess I was the former and the buyer the latter... -

Thomas M. Bresnahan - RIP
Man with the Golden Arm replied to Kevin Bresnahan's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
My deepest sympathy to you and your family, Kevin. (My dad was also a lineman - Ohio Bell - and then long distance toll repair as well. Amazing that they could climb poles like a logger and get down and suture bundles of wire like a surgeon AND fix anything!!) Thanks for sharing your heartfelt memories. -

the "LINK" sez it is and even shows a nice little quicktime in what looks to be finely restored glorious black and white. the Monk is even nicer "film-wise", but these are compressed and reduced so who knows about the graininess of the final product. -
