  5. Reminds me of an old George Carlin line: Exasperated parent of divorced child: "I have TRIED to be both a mother and a father to you" Snotty kid: "Oh yeah, well then go F yourself"
  6. "...and women like it too!" And why was he cutting the soap with a knife? What was that all about? and did you secretly hope that just once, he would nick his thumb? That would be funny! Reminds me of the time my stepfather was showing of his gardening shears to my son. He was pretending to cut off the end of his (my stepfather's) thumb with them. Guess what.... He did. Reminds me of a joke (apologies in advance): Husband and wife were driving along and husband reveals infidelity to wife Wife promptly cuts off his Johnson and tosses it out the window Father and six-year old daughter are traveling directly behind Johnson hits windshield of following car and disheveled father remarks, "wow, honey look at that bug" Daughter remarks, "yeah, and look at the size of the Johnson on it"

  14. I can actually differentiate between "Sugar Sugar" and "Feelings". One is bouncy bubble-gum pop and the other is pure dreck. I have never heard the Faith Hill song but I will blindly take your word for it. Eric

  19. My ears are in need of (further) opening. My music collection includes just about all styles, genres, eras, whatever. I am looking for something that is simultaneously challenging and fun. I am very open minded. Does not need to be "pure" jazz by any stretch and I don't really care if it is free/avant garde, as long as it is FUN to listen to. Something where you say to yourself, "I bet they had a ball recording that". Only other qualifier is that I don't want something that is merely novel, something that will not have staying power. Just tell me what comes to mind ... something YOU really dig (regardless of what the fricking critics say), something you return to. Guilty pleasures are OK, as long as they meet the other critieria. Thanks Eric
  20. Pulled this CD the other day and have been "re-grooving" to it. For a genre that sometimes get kinda stale, this really is quite fresh and fun. Plus that cover still slays me!!! Eric
  21. I bought this CD and think it sucks. It is almost like "Jazz 101" or "Jazz For People That Don't Like Jazz". The styles are all over the place and none of them are very successful, IMHO. There are moments where his playing sounds nice, but then he moves on to something else, usually something with a "retro" feel. Out of respect for the guy, I try to listen, but my mind soon wanders and I lose focus. Kind of sad ... working "hard" to listen to something that returns little in return. Sadly, this doesn't feel like a particularly honest effort. Or perhaps it is, in which case I have zero interest in the guy from an artistic point of view. Eric
  22. Thanks for the heads up Rooster. I will be in Columbia to see the uhm ... Indigo Girls Eric
  23. I snagged this a few weeks ago from CD Baby, but have not had a chance to listen yet ... will go to the top of the rotation ... thanks for the heads up. Eric
