  1. Larry Did you read the Carl Woideck book on Parker?
  2. thanks Lon for your comments!
  3. So Lon, Do you think that the repair would be worth the money and put the unit in good shape?... some people I spoke to do not think it would and that there are probably too many old parts to make that worthwhile.
  4. Horrors!!! Don't tell me that Ronnie Scott's would have presented the G Man!
  5. thanks for attaching the Guardian article.... I read it somewhat differently to say that the "one occasion" referred to the particular disguise she wore on a single occasion.... the report I saw in the US indicated there was more than one visit but perhaps they or I got it wrong.
  6. I was recently watching the news here in the US and as they are going through another round of Lady Diana stories (I guess it is the anniversary of her death) they reported that her one true love was a doctor of Pakistani origin living in England and that their favorite hangout was Ronnie Scott's jazz club.
  7. Lon, Thanks... when you say "B Stock" does that mean used? According to PS Audio a new P300 is now around $2500.
  8. I have a PS Audio P300 that is now about 13 years old. Recently it has been shutting off and when I attempt to turn it on - I get just a single red light. I called the company and asked about repair and they said $500.... an audiophile buddy I talked to recommended against repair saying that the unit was just too old and he could not imagine that $500 would cover all of the aging components in the unit. Any of you guys have any experience with this?
  9. Happy Belated Birthday Lon hope you are able to take that trip!!
  10. congrats to you both!
  11. thanks felser ....do you happen to know if the single disc of Winterland contains the best performances?.... probably this is a dumb question.
  12. Thanks everyone. I have the latest version of the Monterrey live concert which I have loved forever.... had it on vinyl with the Otis Redding performance since forever. By the way, on the BBC performances .... does the band stretch out? My experience with BBC performances is that they tend to run 2 to 4 minutes.
  13. I am looking for the Experience albums - meaning Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. I prefer single disc selections, or maybe you might recommend a single disc selection from a box set like they did with WInterland. Please give order of preference and any explanation is helpful Thanks.
  14. the part of the video that was left out is at the end where the guys in the white coats show up and put Mr. Hoffman in the straightjacket and take him back to the funny farm he escaped from

  22. I am offering the following japanese cds which are "mini lps" featuring Art Pepper The Return of Art Pepper TOCJ-9312 Modern Art TOCJ-9311 The Art of Pepper TOCJ-9407 Joe Morello Collections TOCJ-9453 (featuring Art Pepper on half of the tracks) These four mini lps contain 95% of the Mosaic Art Pepper Select, lacking only the 5 tracks from the Bill Perkins session. What you get on the Joe Morello cd in addition to the tracks with Pepper is that the other half of the cd features Red Norvo, Howard Roberts, and Gerry Wiggins with some really great performances Each cd is mint or near mint condition for the covers and the cds themselves. In addition, the color reproductions of the covers are more vivid than the Mosaic Select, which does not give you the cover of Collections. I have the obi strip for each disc. Price for each is $20 delivered to a US address and prefer to sell them together.

  24. Not an entirely unreasonable conclusion, imo. But that was the song that I remember being highlighted in some Rolling Stone cover story that seemed to me at the time to be at or near the beginning of the "appreciation" of George Jones outside of the non-Country audience, and you know how that goes... Yeah and I remember that he did that album Bartender's Blues in the 70s and the title song was written for him by James Taylor with James on backing vocals.... now that is one of those collaborations that REALLY works.... apparently James was a fan. and Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Brothers did a bunch of George Jones songs way before the non-country world caught on. Parsons always talked up George Jones.
