  1. The Band- Look Out Cleveland
  2. Animals is the first Pink Floyd album I discovered contemporaneously. For that reason it's a favorite however it's where I jump off the "Floyd" train. No use for anything after that. The latest remaster sounds excellent
  3. My favorite as well.
  4. That's cool. Just remember that a lot of competitive road cyclists (and I'm not talking paid professionals here) do it because they enjoy the work, discipline, and camaraderie that comes with it. I regularly ride with a number of CAT 1 riders and the percentage of them who ride purely for competitive sake is fairly small in my estimation. Enjoyment comes many ways!
  5. Now that -- by far makes me much more sad than the trials and tribulations of Alberto Contador.
  6. Damn straight!. I made a nice white bean soup last week w/ cabbage, kale, and risotto that was quite good. Tonight, pasta with arugula pesto, carrots with pine nuts and currants, arugula salad with walnuts, and a nice glass of chianti.
  7. Miles w/Santana circa 1972Miles w/Weather Report circa 1973.A drumless trio album with Bill Evans & Eddie Gomez circa 1977
  8. Boogie On Reggae Woman
  9. Wow-- heart breaking news. Rarely does a day go in which I don't listen to a recording that he was involved in.
  10. Bobby Hutcherson Select (No. 26)
  11. Spun some Alice Cooper yesterday, Killer & Billion Dollar Babies.
  12. Tom Waits- Step Right Up Always get a kick out of this song!
  13. Always liked this picture. Very good album as well.
  14. Stan Getz- Parker 51
  15. Giving the Lloyd it's first spin. Sounds good so far.
  16. From what I've read, heard, and seen over the years, I think Clapton has gone out of his way to acknowledge his influences (From The Cradle being a prime example in his discography but not the only one), and has never represented himself as nothing other than a student of the blues (my words not his). That said, I guess I don't understand all the hate etc. So the guy isn't totally original or particularly innovative in the blues genre-- no big deal in my mind. Evertything up to and including his 1981 release Another Ticket is pretty interesting and worth a listen. After that it gets sketchy (Thanks Phil Collins!). My general rule of thumb with Clapton from 1981 forward is that if he's wearing a pastel suit that matches the color of his strat. on the cover of the album, you should pass.
  17. Yeah- but the outro to Layla is still magic to my ears.
  18. Ditto. I've listened to this 4 times in the last week and it's just not doing anything for me (I was kind of reluctant to post anything since I didn't want to turn anyone off to this release). I love their first two albums but they have kind of lost their momentum IMO. A missed opportunity.
  19. That's my understanding as well. Under $30, nice!!!!! Have the Sonny RS2 on preorder as well.
  20. I actually rediscovered this album over the summer. Very nice indeed!
  21. I've listened to all the samples available on Amazon and I have to agree. I think that's a fair characterization. For what it's worth I ithought Jim's post was a pretty evenhanded statement of his opinion (as are all his posts I've come across).
  22. For those who haven't pulled the trigger on this set yet, it can currently be preordered (which I did) for about $36.50 via Amazon. Not a bad price.
  23. The King Of Packaging Lunacy?
