  1. This sounds like a record I need to hear, I've been on a big Coryell kick for awhile and this combination intrigues me. Coryell is wonderful! I don't think I've ever heard him play better in straight ahead jazz setting. Clearly he's inspired by Grappelli and Catherine. Also, if your not familiar with Philip Catherine your really in for a treat.
  2. Yeah- pretty much.
  3. The Taborn is excellent. A thoughtful, nuanced, performance having more in common with 20th century modern classical music. No blues here!
  4. So was this set actually ever issued? I preordered at Amazon, and after much delay they finally cancelled my order indicated the set was no longer available. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Read about that demo. I believe it was done to showcase Wilson Audio, Sophia speakers.
  6. Having my very favorite egglant dish tonight. Sauteed Eggplant with Tomatoes and Balsamic Vinegar served over Quinoa, with a side of Rapini, and a glass of Tempranillo. Not exactly a 30 minute meal (more like 75) but well worth the effort.
  7. Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs- Repo Man Pretty rockin' tune for someone known mainly as a "soulful folkie"
  8. Pendulum- Live At The Village Vanguard (Mosaic Select #32)
  9. The Complete Verve Johnny Hodges Small Group Sessions 1956-1961
  10. For me Hill's playing on Our Thing, the Joe Henderson date, is what hooked me big time.
  11. Melvin, your missed More Today Than Yesterday. RIP
  12. Thanks for posting that excerpt. A nice little nugget from the man.
  13. These immediately come to mind. John Coltrane Quartet- Coltrane McCoy Tyner- Atlantis Bill Evans- Paris Concert (First Edition) Andrew Hill- Dusk Thelonious Monk- Plays Ellington Wayne Shorter- Night Dreamer
  14. This just showed up at my doorstep today. Very much looking forward to reading this!
  15. The new wave funk (is that even a genre?) of Weather Report, D-Flat Waltz. Hard to play this song just once! I think I've played it at least a dozen times in the last couple of days.

    Help Needed

Tap the top of the cd player (not too hard) and press the eject button. It's worked for me in the past. Good luck.
  17. Curious to know your impression about these. I almost bought them last year when I was in the market for new earbuds.
  18. The Klipsch "S4s" are not going to give you real low bass. I find them quite adequate for what they are. Good for mp3 playback, comfortable, and not fatiguing during long listening sessions. FYI- I rip my mp3s at 320 bits or lossless. I do notice subtle differences between the two resolutions. Anything less than 320 bits sounds compressed and tends to be more fatiguing to my ears; especially when horns or other bright sounding instruments are involved.
  19. I've been using Klipsch Image S4 earbuds for the last 4 months or so. I use them while working out and durability is not as issue so far. Good bass, not boomy at all, but plenty deep for my liking. The mids and high end are nicely detailed without any grain. Overall sound is well balanced and to my ears. They come with nice metal case, and 3 different size tips to ensure a snug fit. These are about eighty dollars.
  20. I believe there is a thread that lists the contents from the loft find in great detail somewhere on this site. I searched recently for it but could not find anything. Maybe someone else will have better luck? I seem to remember quite a bit a material being listed.
