  1. The album My Generation is my favorite Who album. The songs are great, but it's Moon's drumming and Shel Talmy's production that bring them to the fore. Nothing pissed me off more than the deluxe reissue of this album a few years ago. They didn't have the guitar & vocals overdubs. It loses a lot of life. I wish they had a remix of the version I'm used to. I had to go buy it again just because of this.
  2. Cry If You Want from It's Hard is my favorite post-Moon song.
  3. Who Are You is one of my favorites and yet I'm not sure why. I think because it's eclectic. Love Is Coming Down is a fantastic song.
  4. Here's my guess: Early: My Generation/A Quick One/Sell Out Mid: Tommy/Live At Leeds/Who's Next/Quadrophenia Late: By Numbers/Who Are You/Face Dances/It's Hard Unclassifiable: Endless Wire (I've never heard this one)
  5. I love their back story.
  6. For The Who & other classic rock bands, the older I get (now 38), the more I feel burned out by the songs/albums, even though I still like them. Who's Next you could hear every song on FM radio. Every song! My favorites from that album are the ones always played too. But I just don't need to own it anymore just like almost all Pink Floyd, all of The Doors. I surprisingly still have most of Led Zeppelin (except Presence & In Through...). I'm sick of that too, but it's really great. I do enjoy it when I happen to listen to the radio which is hardly ever. I still have all my Beatles stuff. The Rolling Stones I only have The London Singles Collection. That's all I need from them.
  7. Have them play Rain also.
  8. You're correct. Join Together was part of Who's Next.
  9. I've posted this on a message board (a gbv board, mostly big Who fans). I was wondering what people here thought. The Who are a favorite band of mine, but I feel that starting with The Seeker, The Who's sound, studiowise got samey & a bit dull. A number of the Lifehouse songs sound samey to me. The only 70's albums I still love are Quadrophenia ( also samey, but I love it anyway) & Who Are You (not sure why, I've just always loved this one...I think the songs don't sound as depressing as they probably are especially coming after By Numbers). I've also realized I'm not as crazy about songs like I'm A Boy, Happy Jack (though this rocks live), Dogs. When their studio sound is thin, it always takes away from them. I listened to Tommy today and had to admit something I've felt for a while, a lot of the songs aren't that good. A lot of songs just to move the plot. That's why I like Quadrophenia better, it's a series of impressions rather than a linear story. Works much better. There are some great songs on Tommy, but not that many. Anyone else?
  10. I had one album by them, The Colour Of Spring, I think it was called. not as electronic thank god. It has a great song on it called Life's What You Make It. Absolutely the best thing I heard by them. The whole album was good. I haven't heard it in years.
  11. I would love to hear Rated X with out Miles's keyboard. It's wayyyyy too high in the mix. It sounds really interesting underneath.
  12. From what I remember they reissued the Coltrane, Evans, 65-68, Silent Way & Bitches Brew in long boxes all about the same time. You might still be able to find them used on amazon & ebay. I still see them in stores sometimes.
  13. There's also the song Call it Anything which isn't on any of the boxes. An edited live song from Isle Of Wight 1970? Is that right?
  14. One funny thing I still love to tell people about: I was 15 or 16 (about 1985 or 1986) sleeping over my friends house and he always had the tv on to fall asleep. I fell asleep and apparetntly sit upright, Looked at him and said: "Is David Lee Roth still in Van Halen?" He said no and I laid back down. I guess a minute or two later I actually woke up and he's looking at me grinning. He said, "Do you know what you just did?" I was completely asleep. The question I asked just makes me laugh every time I tell it.
  15. That's right, I forgot about Hey Jude. Since MMT has been released as a regular cd, I don't think they would include it. What would be the live album? And where was The Beatles' Story on Vol 1?
  16. This would only be Yesterday & Today & Revolver.
  17. I remember in the late 90's this show was going to be released, but never came out. I hear there is guitar smashing at the end of the show. I really wanted to hear that.
  18. Hey, check it out, they're using my title!!! I'm gonna sue Vincent Walburn for royalties! Um, this may push the release date back a bit.... It's my fault. I told ya I would sue!
  19. It's The Beatles' Apple & Allen Klein all over again!
  20. The reason Davis's box sets are so expensive is Columbia are still trying to recoup all the money they loaned him for advances!
  21. Wait 6 months and get it used on Amazon for that price.
  22. I said this if a Mobley box was in place of the Blackhawk box that's already out.
  23. This set wasn't part of the original plan of box sets. Do you think that that they'll do one for the last era 1980-85? I won't buy that one. I kind of wish they did one for the Mobley era only so everything could be in this series. It could've been Someday My Prince Will Come, all of the Blackhawk & the Carnegie Hall albums and called it From The Blackhawk to Carnegie Hall & been about 5 or 6 cds.
  24. The Museum Of Fine Art in Boston. I'm betting you're already going there. Say hi to Worcester, MA if you drive through it on either I-290 or Route 9. That's where I'm from.
  25. Ian Gillan plays Jesus on the original so he in quite a few songs.
