  1. On the other hand, I'm unfamiliar with Moore's Dark Knight shit. Unless you mean Miller's Dark Knight shit. Still, I'll take issue #6 of The Watchmen over any other standard format comic book ever printed...
  2. I agree. I'd much rather read Ditko's off the wall Charlton stuff, and his own selfpublished stuff than his Spiderman stuff. Although Ditko and I are on opposite sides of most issues, I still see more substance there than in Spiderman. And guys, comics are one subject where an American talking to a European about substance just doesn't fly too far...
  3. Sounds like a regular schedule of donations might be the best course of action, if this is going to be an ongoing monthly expense. 50 to 75 bucks (er..plus a few extra bucks for the beer fund... ) isn't that much if it's spread out among a large number of us...
  4. Well, I don't eat traditional fast food, but I tell you what...I'll swear off my weakness, frozen foods (probably just as bad for you!) for the month to lend moral support. Maybe we can both do ourselves some good!
  5. I do avoid threads that have gotten too long at times. I also DEFINITELY avoid threads like "Funny album covers" etc., but that's because I have dial up and don't feel like waiting four or five minutes for each page to load. HOWEVER, avoiding the funny rat thread is avoiding one of the most important threads on this board in my opinion. I'm WAAAAAY behind on reading it; I've only read up to page 21 as I've tried to rein in my CD buying spree. However, when this buying slow down is over, I'll be right back there looking for more ideas. I keep a post-it note on my computer with the number of the last funny rat page I've read so I don't get confused, and keep a list of titles to check out. I've been exposed to jazz I would have never known existed if it hadn't been for this thread, and while I can't say I've enjoyed it all, I can say that I've enjoyed enough of it that I'll keep going back.
  6. By the way, I haven't gone the condo route, but have friends who have. The short story of what they say is that while they sell slower than a regular house, they do sell, EXCEPT in down markets when you're pretty much stuck.
  7. Collect four of 'em and you can trade them for one out here...
  8. Art Farmer Quintet: Mirage (Soul Note)
  9. Chicken salad sandwich with "pretzel bits" or whatever they're called. You know, the thingies that crunch but don't have fat like potato chips so I can pretend I'm being good while eating the sandwich with the mayo in it. And a diet Coke for added irony... Been trying to get back in the habit of brownbagging it lately. You know, pump more money into the CD budget.
  10. Thank goodness moose racks are useless for that purpose!
  11. Isn't that what they make industrial strength blenders for?
  12. Ah...I feel much better. As long as I don't click that link again.
  13. Gotta sign off now; I need a shower bad after that...
  14. Uh...check out I mean. Darn that JSngry...
  15. Alas, when I'm on vacation, it's compromise city, as my wife really doesn't dig this stuff. We generally go with the stuff that matches up the best between us like Motown stuff and seventies soul, plus add whatever we think we can get away with. Usually Steve Roach on her part and Jim Hall or light Getz on mine...
  16. Happy Birthday, Stefan!
  17. Keep hammering, Chuck; you're beginning to convince me. I understand the reason for the expiration of patents (to promote futher development, etc.) but I really don't understand how this applies to recordings, novels, etc. It's easy to say they should do it because of the importance of the material, but I'm sure we all agree that's pretty naive.
  18. We have a few bird watchers in the family, so I asked them. They didn't know anything about online stuff, but Moose says the small ones taste best, and Brandy says watch out for the crows; they can turn on you if you're not careful...
  19. This is strange...I saw this same article about six months ago. I guess it's a slow news day.
  20. I saw a box set of singles by The Damned the other day and grabbed my wife with a "Hey, look!!" before I realized she was probably listening to the Carpenters at that time...
  21. Point? No point...
  22. Also notice the "stay on topic" part; I have a feeling that BNBB questions will not be considered "on topic"...
