  1. Not to be contrary, but I've never understood the purpose of this particular "service". I mean, it's not like you guys never show up here, and it's not like you can't look at the indicators on the left of the screen and see where new posts are. The only thing I can tell this is good for is screwing up posting when the email is down. But then I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Better head to the political forum; don't want to waste a good grump!!
  2. I figure that they wanted to try it out where no one would notice it...
  3. Wandered into Compact Disc Warehouse in Sunnyvale (it was the wife's fault, I swear!) and picked up four titles. Louis Armstrong and King Oliver: Mistake. It's the "Musical Heritage Society" version; does the regular Milestone version sound this bad? Or have I just been spoiled by the Armstrong Legacy box remastering? Paul West: Being Alone...another mistake. I swear, this thing said Paula West in the store...who knows, maybe it's okay. Jason Moran: Modernistic No mistake here; this one's been on my wantlist for a while and is in my ears as I type. Cool shit!!! Art Ensemble of Chicago: The Meeting Haven't heard it yet, but I have faith.
  4. Well, I'd do that, but I think Lon and Paul Secor have all my money at the moment; see if they'll send it over...
  5. No pun intended? Man, I'm getting slow in my old age...
  6. Yeah, but I don't mind if they have my info; I just don't feel like giving PayPal free access to my account. I trust (to continue the example) Hans; I don't trust a faceless corporate entity like PayPal. But your idea of a checking account just for PayPal is something I hadn't thought of before; I'll have to consider that.
  7. See what happens when you hit $2000... (Gad, I spend too much on jazz, obviously!)
  8. I've worked with several people named Phuc. The current one goes by "Michael" for some reason...
  9. I don't use PayPal anymore. Once they informed me that if I wanted to keep using their service, I'd have to link a bank account rather than a credit card, I quit. I don't mind linking a credit care, but my bank account? Sorry...ain't gonna do it. My stubborn attitude hurts me more than them, I'll admit. Just in CDs Hans sells if nothing else...
  10. Say it again, brother!
  11. I'd love to try it when the wife gets home, but we have a lumpy couch...
  12. Bitches Brew is the only one I bought, and the only one I will buy. I could do without it. Should I vote? (To expand on the comments Chris made, this packaging ***SUCKS BIG TIME!!!***)
  13. I musta timed it right; got right in and it seems okay...
  14. And I'm beginning to think I was a chump for buying 'em as they came out! But I won't stop now...
  15. So much for infallability...
  16. I like the way you think!
  17. Definitely "who's there". With it, you can't fail; the recipient of your humor has signed on and become part of the joke. Without it, you might as well just shut up. If you have to repeat "knock, knock", don't bother; they aren't signing on and just want you to go away...
  18. I wouldn't worry about it, Noj. I doubt that anyone would hold it against you or anyone else for your sports' loyalties. Whaddya think this is, politics????? You're a Patriots fan? You lowlife, scum sucking....
  19. You know, I think that sums it up perfectly! If you couldn't smile when a Ramones song came on, you were either brain dead, or really needed to get over yourself...
  20. Wow...Jesus had to wander through the desert for over a month before you showed up!
  21. Well, not personified anyway, but I think my problem with the "dry spell" bit is that I know my time on this Earth is limited, and somewhere deep down inside, I still have this naive notion that if I really try, I can hear it all. Figures. Mortality I can deal with; the fact that there's more recorded jazz than anyone could possibly listen to is beyond my grasp...
  22. I'm unclear on the terminology here. I have two CDRs of OOP albums (that will be replaced when, for one, and if for the other, they are released) and one CDR of commercially unavailble stuff. Plus two OOP Mosaics on CDR. And a tape of part of another. I blame the bad crowd I fell in with, this gang of jazzheads at Organissimo; they all came from those posters...
  23. This has been happening to me a bit lately; those who post on the "now listening" thread may have noticed that I haven't been there too much as of late. It bothers me a bit, but if silence is what I'm in the mood for, what the hell...
