  1. Clearly I should just fill holes in my collection and skip this. These little boxes are so seductive, I almost loose my common sense....not that I have a lot anyway.
  2. Ah...I see. Thanks.
  3. any thoughts on this? "Digitally remastered four CD collection containing all existing recordings made by Cecil Taylor for the legendary Candid label. Produced by legendary jazz critic Nat Hentoff in 1960-61, these recordings are essential to the history of Modern Jazz. Featured are such star sidemen as Archie Shepp, Clark Terry, Steve Lacy, Billy Higgins, and bassist Buell Neidlinger, who was the original leader on half of these sessions. A complete 1961 Taylor septet session produced by Creed Taylor, and the pianist's entire 1957 quartet performance at Newport have been added here as a bonus. Includes 24-page booklet. Solar."

    Cecil Taylor

    watching now.
  5. BUT...I see it as a transitional album towards the end.
  6. That's good. I've been wondering about him.
  7. Me too.
  8. the last interesting PF album, the lyrics are a bit too heavy and negative for me. the music is interesting enough.
  9. I like the new album, it reminds me of VH II. This one is a pleasant surprise, when so many comeback albums are not.
  10. Splendid ! This one has the potential to be an absolutely top-notch Mosaic. It should be.
  11. last check showed the voting has evened out a bit, with the download and the six cd set getting about the same amount of votes.
  12. I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to check it out. But then I own most of it. Any rarities?
  13. Boy, I'd like to know the release date for that one. There's only five weeks left to this quarter. Quarter in Hat's schedule that is. These are their releases through April, then they'll put out a new batch May-July, August-Oct, Nov-Jan, etc. I was told Jump Up ships before the end of the month.
  14. Same here.
  15. Both may be lost to the sands of time.
  16. Speaking of no bass. Has Berne ever talked about the reason he doesn't use a bass player? His music is pretty busy. Doesn't Noriega cover the low end in this band? Also pointing out the piano player has a left hand. Thanks for your comments Tim Berne. I was told a few hours ago (by Bruce) that Downtown Music Gallery in NYC has all the Screwgun releases in stock. Still enjoying the Snakeoil album, looking forward to checking out a bunch of Screwgun releases soon.
  17. Looks like an interesting album, I like the lineup. Herwig teaches locally at Rutgers (I think), I should take the opportunity to hear him with his regular band.
  18. Only if he's playing bass clarinet. This is getting some heavy spins here in paradise. I plan on listening to it again this afternoon.
  19. Do you mean Larry Ochs, or has something really strange been going on? Ha ha, I stand corrected.
  20. I'll listen to something and that sure isn't it!
  21. Boy, I'd like to know the release date for that one. There's only five weeks left to this quarter.
  22. It could have been interesting. Shorter is seven years or so younger.
  23. Thanks 7/4! Man, we had some good times here. I'm sorry to hear you've had hard times too. I've been told that what doesn't kill me will make me stronger, but I've found that it has just made this ol' cat mangy. lol I hear ya man. Back then I had lot's of spare time and made 2-3 times what I make now, now I work 10 times as hard. On the plus side, I can post from anywhere I can use my phone now. Life in paradise is grand.
