  1. Looking forward to this!
  2. Just bought this from over the Channel, LP box. It's quite wonderful.
  3. Thanks for posting this. I will get it too once it is available locally.
  4. Recent news on Keith Jarrett had me revisiting his Sun Bear series of live recordings in november 1976 in Japan. Beautifully edited boxset (I have it on LP). The box set is very wide ranging (and distinct from many other KJ projects). Just enjoyed Nagoya and Tokyo now.
  5. Figuring is indeed excellent! Thank you for all the comments. Ephiphany/Epiphanies gets on my next purchase list then as well as some others.
  6. Tending to always come back to Derek Bailey and to expand my collection, I was wondering if there were any favorites among the Honest Jons output of the last couple of years, especially among some of the Company sessions which weren't previously released on Incus CDs? The only one I have picked up from them was Aida. Dart Drug is great but already have it on CD, as for some others.
  7. Thank you for the great article! Those memoirs to come will be something. Happy birthday!
  8. I have been moved by many American songs though I wouldn't define them as being just that. I might be off topic here, but middle and late Billie Holiday comes to mind first. I've read Szwed's Billie Holiday: The musician and the Myth and largely agree with its main thesis (which would apply also to many blues musicians), but still... This video in particular, with Mal Waldron, I saw first in one of Washington's Smithsonian art museums. Billie's expresssion and movements, the tempo, etc. :
  9. Absolutely, the latest batch looks great. Derek Bailey, Barry Guy, Sam Rivers, Masabumi Kikuchi, Sabu Toyozumi, just to name a few that are included, wow!
  10. Too many space (and probably financial) issues on my side to own it all, but I sure would like to hear the whole oeuvre at least once for some of the mentioned musicians. The CD and digital archive (Bandcamp) reissue stream of late has brought out a lot of fascinating music for some, for instance Cecil Taylor and Derek Bailey who come to mind.
  11. That's really bad news. Full support to him and wishes for recovery.
  12. Great trumpeter Toshinori Kondo has died on Saturday, October 17, his sons have stated in an obituary this Sunday: http://www.toshinorikondo.com/ He was a personal favorite as part of Die Like a Dog Quartet and something very special to be experienced live, as seen in two different settings at Mulhouse festival in 2017. This is sudden and sad.
  13. Just got Ride the wind on reading praise on this thread, just one listen but indeed great! The Rogue Art offer is tempting. I already have a lot of Mitchell on CD, but the output is really diverse and fascinating.
  14. I just received the Mobley box bought on last chance, I was missing about one third of the music. Only played CD1 but the sound is indeed excellent. I already can see that the difference with some of the rvgs I own will be important. While this can seem to be a luxury, I'm sure it will only make me appreciate the music even more.
  15. Sad. Very very interesting musician. Great to see him in Paris a couple of years ago.
  16. Thanks for the heads up on this release, playing it now and excellent!
  17. Come to Paris in November and you can check that relationship live! (coronavirus permits): https://www.letriton.com/programmation/collignon-portal-sclavis-2518
  18. Sad. Saw him at a festival about two years ago with Tusques, Juanpera and Parle (As on Le chant du jujub).
  19. This is sad and unexpected (didn't know he was sick). He also looked younger than his age. Saw him twice in recent years in solo configuration. A fascinating player and a unique path.
  20. I asked the same question and received this reply from Jorge on June 11th: Well the truth is that we are waiting for this box set, since long time ago. They ran out of it, and they are now reprinting more. This is why we are still waiting. But, we are doing everything we can to get it. Actually if we have any luck, we will have it here in a couple of weeks. We will announce it!
  21. Very sad. Fascinating artist spanning wide. Among other recent recordings, L'étau. Choses clandestines is an excellent studio and live date from 2013 with Michel Pilz, Paul Rogers and Jean-Noël Cognard. Will be revisiting his music.
  22. Albert Mangelsdorff - Trombirds - MPS
  23. Bill Dixon - November 1981 - Soul Note
  24. These Bandcamp initiatives are very welcome, rare in these times for a music platform to do. Please post what you decide to get during these 24hrs.
