  1. I think my first was the Mobley set.
  2. I guess the question is how much do you want to immerse yourself?
  3. I really like how Elvin plays on this.
  4. To be or not to be.... Classic!
  5. Patrick Melrose. Bit of a tough watch although Cumberbatch is superb. An English addict goes to pick up the remains of his father in NY and goes through several benders.
  6. The cast is excellent. To me, Cillian Murphy (the lead character), Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson and Sam Neill are fabulous. Tom Hardy also is in it and he’s superb.
  7. Well put. In my car, I had been listening to my iPod using the random setting. In the last month I’ve been listening to the full album and I like that a whole let better.
  8. It’s a great show about a Birmingham, England crime family. Four seasons, the first two are the best.
  9. I’m not sure what to make of these articles that appeared in the New York Review of Books but I pass them along. Dancing Miss Billie Holiday
  10. I just got it and now have to put it on top of the pile.
  11. Thanks Dan. It was on the most recent Mosaic Gazzette.
  12. I recently bought a cd from an eBay seller in Japan and the tracking shows it arrived in NY on May 5 but no activity since then. I'm fearing that it's probably lost. I went to the Post Office yesterday and someone is supposed to call me back.
  13. I listened to part of disc 1 of the Quebec 45 sessions. I can’t remember when I last listened to it.
  14. This came out yesterday: A Lifetime Of Carla Bley, by Ethan Iverson.
  15. Although I understand MC’s point of view, if a group is not playing standards, why would they record them or play them?
  16. I love the Coleman disk, listened to it recently.
  17. Jazz Lives has this great interview with Dan Morgenstern where he is talking about Bird. See https://jazzlives.wordpress.com/2018/03/20/dan-morgenstern-remembers-charlie-parker-december-15-2017/ At one point he veers off to Art Blakey where he says he doesn’t like him but says he doesn’t want to get into it. Does anyone know what that’s all about?
  18. The As are no easy mark. They could have won the series against the Yankees. The Nats are playing their best ball right now, all without Rendon and Murphy.
  19. That is a great story, RT. You must have written a great paper for the course. Music has a way of sweeping you away. I’m agnostic too (never was barmitzvah’ed) but can see myself getting carried away. Of course, I can’t sing for crap, but that’s not what’s it’s about, singing ability.
