  1. Great underrated player. Philosophy of Urso is indeed a great LP.
  2. Is part 2 Volume 18/19? I saw that on Amazon but it's a little pricey at $45. Volume 1 is available at CDU and just ordered it.
  3. The MJQ Box and the Jimmy Smith Blue Notes end today.
  4. Thanks for the tips. I'll check them out.
  5. I am looking for this Cd that was originally on Muse. It may have been available as a Japanese import although I haven't checked to see if it is. If anyone has one they'd like to sell or can point me to, I'd be obliged. If nothing turns up, next stop Hiroshi.
  6. I like the idea of some Muse being given the Mosaic treatment. Who owns the rights to them? But speaking of Xanadu, what about a Mosaic Select for the bop lps they did. I think that would be a tremendous idea. I believe there were 6 LPs. Don't know, however, if it would be enough for a Select although maybe you could do it in a couple of Singles, if not. I'm not a big fan of free jazz but I think that would be a good idea to pull free jazz fans in.
  7. Maybe this has been discussed before. If so, my apologies. However, it seems everytime I go on, I have to re-log in even though I've marked the "remember me" box. Any ideas why because it's a little annoying to have consistently do it.
  8. I've listed on ebay a few CDs, including the MJQ Complete Prestige and Pablo and the Woody Herman Select. Here's the link Besides the two box sets, there are David Fathead Newman - Lone Star Legend Jimmy Smith - Live at Village Gate Oscar Peterson Plays Count Basie Kenny Burrell and John Coltrane (not RVG)
  9. The set went for $311. I'm assuming this is OOP? Remember when Verve had those ridiculous sales on this box a few years back on ebay and then refused to honor most of it.
  10. PM not sent. I'm too late
  11. I picked up a few of these. The best of the bunch is the Burrell (a keeper) and I enjoyed Jazz Giants. As someone noted, the Smith is a little short (I think 30 minutes) and nothing special. The Plays for Basie is good Oscar but didn't blow me away (I'm not a huge Oscar fan).
  12. Chuck is probably right but, hey, you can never have too much!
  13. Obviously Chuck was right when Fantasy was sold way back when. We don't know how good we had it all those years.
  14. I've got a feeling that at 5,000 copies this one may not be around terribly long.
  15. It seems like it's been quite awhile, the Dizzy set being the last, since Mosaic did a full box set of anything since the 50s, i.e. hard bop or Modern Jazz, as they classify it (although that includes more than hard bop). Don't get me wrong, I look forward to picking up the Hampton and the Young boxes but just wondering and hoping there would be something coming along in the genre.
  16. I hope the Gerald Wilson set was in a plastic sleeves. Sounds sacriligious :rsmile:
  17. The people who dumped their stock last week must be breathing somewhat sigh of a relief. Beats $2 a share anyway.
  18. Was just thinking the same thing the other day.
  19. Horace Parlan. Haven't listened to in awhile. Big mistake
  20. I'm picking up most of these but based on what I saw here not the Desmond and I'll skip the Nelson.
  21. Just received Mosaic Singles: Jazz Piano and Drum Suite. Very cool. Will be listening to Woody Herman Select next.
  22. I have XM. Enjoy listening to Jazz and believe it or not Wynton's educational shows. Also like having CNN on the radio as well as Baseball on XM, which is non stop baseball all year around. However, I still listen to my regulary AM/FM stations as well.
  23. Got my vote. I don't find the AAJ as good but it beats nothin!
  24. Any thoughts on this set? Anybody have it?
  25. His first BN date was really good, the second ok (but not earth shattering). I have a few of this SteepleChase cds. The one with Jodie Christian is excellent.
