Anybody see this Bud Powell Mythic Sounds set? Wish I had the money.

Even though I'm a Mets fan, the National League is not that impressive. I can't figure out my team, although they've played better since the Phillies swept 'em. It's like they finally realized they better start playing some ball. The only team I really like (to win it all that is) are the Sox. I haven't seen much of the Tribe so I can't really say about them.

I hate to admit it but it looks like it's Boston's to lose this year. The one team from the NL who could give them trouble would be the Padres with their pitching, but they might not even get into the playoffs. PS: The less said about the Mariners at this point, the better... Aren't the Pods down to one good pitcher, Peevey, with Young being hurt lately? I'm liking Red Sox vs. Mets in World Series, with advantage Red Sox. Outside shot to the Dbacks.

Why not just ignore the post? That seems the easiest way to go.

Looks like the Phils sweep did wake up the Mets: sweep of the Braves (sweet!) and Phils lose 2 out of 3 to Marlins. Let's hope the Braves wake up against the Phils in the next few days.

I've got a Berman Cd by way of Japan that's quite neat: Jazz Immortal 1946 - Esoteric Records ES-532 (Venus Records 79505)

I picked up the Dizzy one and the sound is ok, not that great. At least for me, this Cd suffered because I had been listening to the Dizzy at Newport Cd and that is a wonderful Cd, highly recommended. This is one is...just ok, nothing special.

Liverpool was on fire today. Of course, consider the competition. Looks like Derby is headed back to the Championship for sure.

That's incredible. They'll be out for blood next week. I feel sorry for whoever that is.

I suppose the whole thing is rather sad but most Americans don't have general knowledge of anything: their history, their political representatives, etc. I'm not sure why she's being singled out, other than that it's Miss America, etc., but it's a deeper problem.

Gravy Train is a cool cd. I'd pick it up.

I don't know about essential but this is a great album and deserves to be in every collection. It was a revelation, when I got it. Disc One is really good, disc Two not as much but still a great collection of music.

Based on that 1997 interview and one from about 3 or so years ago, you could tell there was a lot of affection and mutual respect between the two of them.

Some great recordings there. Have them all mostly.

On Saturday, they played the interview that Phil Schaap did with Max in 1997. Really great.

So he's successful, so what. Nothing to do with his musical abilities or lack therof, however you fall on this spectrum.

It brought back the memories when I was a kid of watching him and Arthur Treacher as the Ed McMahon-like sidekick. What an odd pairing. Whenever I see Charo, I always think of her and Xavier Cugat on the Merv Griffin show. What a hoot!
