  1. Up. Prices reduced.
  2. Just a continuing indication of the decline of proper teaching.
  3. Too bad I was going to order it.
  4. Guess I don't see the creepiness. It's just memorabilia, that's all.
  5. I'm sure all of us are guilty of CDRing. I'd like to think I'm receiving or giving rare OOP material or CDRs of LPs that may not see the light of day. In that case, I don't see that it's ethically wrong although technically it may be illegal. The third question: huh?
  6. I'm offering for sale these volumes at $20.00 each, including shipping which could be less if you buy more than one. Normally sells for $60 each. All are in near mint plus condition. Paypal preferred. Volume 5 is Dahlander to Dutch Dixie Devils Volume 8 Nat Gonnella to Everette Harp Volume 21 John Slaughter to Straight Line Jazz Ens
  7. You should use AMG as a guide, not an end all. Usually, a Mosaic compilation is an excellent thing, hence the 5 Stars. Because it's Mosaic, it has a good rep attached to it already.
  8. Gotta give him credit. If someone stabbed me in the knee, I'd probably still be screaming.
  9. A true giant has left our midst. RIP. Nice reminiscence from Chris.
  10. I was hoping for more but how can you go wrong with Richie?
  11. The Herbie Harper material (Five Brothers) is not bad.
  12. I've got the Freddie Green Mr. Rhythm and I can't say it really did that much for me. Like Basie without the pizazz.
  13. I'm surprised that the DVD wouldn't have the Sonny version. Must have been a rights problem.
  14. The Joe Pass Box. McCann is awesome on his sets.
  15. I have the LP with Junior Cook. Great swinging stuff. Might just pick up this cd myself.
  16. It would look like 2008 would be the year for Rice and Goose. If they don't get in then, then that might be it for them.
  17. All those Foyle's War DVDs are available from shopPBS.com although it's strictly a retail price. However, I did receive Smiley's People through them and am enjoying that very much. I watch it every couple of years and am glad to be able to get rid of the old VHS tapes that I taped from the TV. I also had received last year Tinker Tailor, which I usually watch yearly. One of my favorite shows of all time, not to mention the book.
  18. Quincy, Excellent list. Of those on your list, I think the following bear consideration for inclusion: C - Munson P - Tiant, Guidry, Kaat I just think it should be very hard to get in.
  19. From Matthew's list, the only ones I consider automatic would be Gossage and Sutter because they revolutionized the position. The others are nice players, very good players, but not HOF. It should be special and hard to get in and only in there for the very great, not just the very good. And believe there are a lot of very good in there. I know that Rice, Blyleven, Dawson will probably get in. I just don't think they should. Looking at the present players, would you mention Pedro and Roger with Blyleven and Morris. Not a chance. Roger and Pedro are automatic. You don't have to think twice about it. That we're having this debate about the others shows they shouldn't get in.
  20. Where's Flipper?
  21. Dan, Your being harsh doesn't bother me but, yes, there are a lot of people in the Hall who don't qualify to be there. We're in agreement there. Was Don Sutton a great pitcher? Good, not Hall-wothy. I'm not big on these statistical compliations or Bill James types but from 1948 or 1949 to 1957 Gil had the numbers in that era. His career tailed off after that. Did you ever see him play? I did and he was a great first baseman. A prototype. Like I said I can make a case for Rice. He was good but not great in my book. Look, you're going to push your candidates as a Sox fan and me as a New York fan and that's what being a fan is all about. Would you care about Rice if you weren't a Sox fan and I about Gil if I weren't from New York, the mecca of Baseball? I doubt it.
  22. Sidney Bechet's music is well worth the extra 5 bucks. You'll be enjoying that music for the rest of your life. The extra cost is not enough to stop me from buying a set.
  23. This is a great album, a hit from Water Records. "Say it loud, I love jazz and I'm proud!"
  24. I guess we can't look forward to any more threads demanding that the Gigolo be reissued.
  25. How could a mistake like that be made. It's very terrible. There's no way you'd ever get me to go down there.
