Andrew Hill Select now on the Mosaic Website!!!!!
Brad replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I wrote to Mosaic asking what the status on shipping the Pepper was and they told me they were waiting for the Hill to come in and they said it just came in today and they're going to start shipping soon! -
I think the version on Morgan's DIZZY ATMOSPHERE came about a month earlier (Feb. '57) Close but no cigar

I haven't checked ebay in a while but there are over 27,000 auctions going. I could remember when there were 5,000. I find it impossible to use it to browse anymore. It's only good if you have something specific in mind.

AOTW Feb. 13 Jimmy Smith "Sermon/Houseparty"
Brad replied to Soul Stream's topic in Album Of The Week
Thanks for doing the research that I was too obviously lazy to do -
Maybe a poor choice of his words but since he's getting royalties, what right does he have to object to the title or release. None, I believe. It should come our over his objections.
-
I think Steinbrenner might object and he does blow his own horn and when the Yanks lose, he does get Blue but maybe Freddie Mitchell can cheer him up.
-
Six Views of the Blues is obviously the blues, with some by his creation plus the St. Louis Blues. Cecil Payne is on this. Yeah, that took me by surprise. One of my favorite Jimmy Smith albums. This one doesn't get a whole lot of attention, circa 1958. Rescued from the vaults thank god.

I have no idea of what you guys are talking about: torrents and vines? Is all this material on Birds Eyes or is this extra and if so, how do I get a copy?
-
From my research that looks correct. A close second might be on Birks Works from 1957.
-
Well, this one takes the cake. I have the Spanish BN and am not even wild about it. Anybody want it? But a couple of people have made the argument of why does the artist get to call the shots. He just has a right to receive royalties. If he had the foresight to retain rights, well hats off to him. But I doubt he retained those rights. You think anyone would care if this came out as Basra. Just do it, and screw Mr. Sims. That's just crazy.

Unfortunately, I need to raise some cash to offset some of my purchases and I'm going to have to part with this set. I got this through Hiroshi so you know it's in mint condition. This is a 21 Record set, with a book that is near mint to mint condition, plus a Keynote photograph album and a 45 of Lennie Tristano. This recently went on Ebay for $350 with a buy it now so I'm looking for a fair price. Shipping will be in the $8-10 range I expect but if the offer is good, I may waive it. If interested, please pm me. I won't be available tomorrow until the evening so I'll get back to you then. Thanks.

No Brad .... they ship according to your membership number ... the lower the number the greater the privileges you get! Mine is #1293 ... what's yours?? Dunno but it must be rapidly sinking
-
I guess they must have shipped them by preorder priority first and since I didn't order until about a week or so ago, I guess that explains it.

I'm just conveying the news. Don't kill the messenger, Mr. S

I just called Mosaic today and they said the Selects should be in shortly. They apparently have not yet arrived.
-
Hmm. Mine hasn't gotten here yet. I'm about to call Mosaic.

You guys are kidding about Welk, right? My grandmother used to listen to that garbage and I couldn't take it even then. And a one, and a two and ....

I use an accountant. It's just a hassle to do it otherwise. When I moved to NJ as part of a corporate move, the company I worked for furnished for free the services of an accountant who did it for us. Now that was a complicated return because we're selling a house in one state and buying it in another. But I've used them since and it's just so easy. You fill out the questionnaire and they do the rest. I just think it's worth the time and aggravation you'd otherwise spend. I remember those days staying up late, etc., just like in the ads. This is a billion times better. I recommend an accountant. It simplifies everything.

Let's face it, we all get old and lose a bit of our skills. Max, unfortunately, is no exception. We can only wish him well. Jim may be right. I don't know. We just know he's not well.

AOTW Feb. 13 Jimmy Smith "Sermon/Houseparty"
Brad replied to Soul Stream's topic in Album Of The Week
Has anybody had a listen in the past few days to Six Views of the Blues but that is a fantastic album. It might be one of my favorite Jimmy Smiths, more so than the Sermon. And is that Cecil Payne's only BN appearance? -
This was one weird movie. Did you read the commentary at imdb.com? That was even weirder. Some body said it was about mormons and anti semitic. Strange.

Let it die my friend, let it die.

I got the same response as Blue for Bartok. I took the extra precaution of cancelling my credit card. Their certification expired and I just don't trust them. I didn't need to worry that extra charges would show up on the card.
