I think they might have started to ship these because I received one of their customer receipts/purchase order confirmation.

I save mine but never thought of selling them on ebay. Anyway, mine only go back to 1999.

As a fellow resident of NJ, I'm with 7/4. On a more serious note, I'm not sure this forum is the place for religious topics. I'm not anti religious; I thing it just better belongs in the non music areas.

One of the side benefits of downloading Itunes is that they have 19 different jazz stations you can listen to. I'm listening to a station called the Spirit of Jazz and is described as "in the style of S.F. legendary KJAZ." I'm not familiar with KJAZ but this is a mighty fine station.

I can't begin to figure out how much money I have spent because of this board or the BNBB. It's a lot, that's for damn sure. What the hell, you gotta enjoy it right.

Claude, Thanks. Went ahead and did that so I'm rarin' to go. Was about to download the Buddy De Franco when I noticed it was a lot of strings. Bummer. Now, there's a whole another way for me to spend money

That's exactly what my said. BTW, that Collateral movie looks good too. I want to see that this weekend. I know you can't get everything from a trailer but he does look like he could be a very good actor.

I've been listening to this disc but no guesses on who anybody is. The music overall is superb. A very good BFT. I'll post impressions later. Thank you Marcus.

Is this one of those things that you have to have an mp3 or IPOD or could I just download it to my computer and then make a disc from that that I could play on a cd player? Also is the software downloadable from Apple? This from the technologically unsophisticated

I've always heard and read that you shouldn't put the lp into the jacket but outside. Why is that? Warping?

Anxioulsly waiting for the Verve set.

Dan, Just sent an email. Hope it's not too late.

Maybe it'll be a reissue of what was on Mosaic ala Herbie Nichols. Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't have him singing. I can't take his singing. And whatever they do, I hope it has some Phil Urso. In fact, I'd like to see some of his stuff reissued. He's way underappreciated.

Happy Birthday to my musical godfather who is one great guy and always provides encouragement and since he's feeling blue.....

I see that you paid around $230 for the Buck. Not bad. I also see the infamous Len Burris is the seller. Don't ask me why he's infamous. I just remember that he had some notoriety about his ebay deals.

Happy Birthday to one of the founders (if not the founder) of our music. He must be great; he has two birthdays a year!

When I saw the Manchurian Candidate this weekend (which BTW is very good, almost as good as the original), they had a trailer for this new film by Taylor Hackford. It looks good but I hope it doesn't turn out like Bird, focusing on the bad things in his life. Anybody heard anything about this upcoming flick?

I'm Goin' To Da Dentist Tomorrow
Brad replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I go every six months. I'm no dentist but teeth should not be neglected. I've been very fortunate. Have had only about five cavities my whole life and no braces or everything else but my wife has bad teeth and it is expensive. Dental insurance pays for some but it's not as great as medical insurance. Better than nothing though. -
When I was a kid, I'd scream like a stuck pig. My mother used to bribe me with ice cream cones. I still don't like 'em too much. When I have to get one I pinch another part of my body so I don't have to focus on the needle. Yeah, I'm strange.

Didn't realize we were gone. Got busy at work but glad we're back.

A couple of weeks ago tjazz had a question about this session and I pulled it out and listened to it again. 14 songs in all, originally issued on Mythic sound and reissued by Pablo. The first 6 are ok but not super from a session that his common law wife, Buttercup, made him record and better known as Bud Powell in Paris. The highlight is one hell of a Perdido. The better part of this disc are 8 live songs recorded in 2 different performances. The first session which features a rhythm section of Pierre Michelot and Kenny Clarke are highlighted by a How High the Moon with Barney Wilen and Dizzy. As the notes mention, you wish they had recorded more often. There is a very brief Bud on Bach that is simply so breathtaking that even my son paid attention. On Bebop, Bud has so many ideas going, it just blew me away, even after listening to it two or three times. However, the highlight for me was on the second session when Bud was in Edenville, France on vacation before his illfated trip to the US. There he played with Johnny Griffin, who is OUTSTANDING on Body and Soul. This is pure beautiful bebop at its best. I wish I could have been there when he played this. This has to be one of my favorite Johnny Griffin performance. He is just on. You gotta listen to him. After listening to these performances, anyone who thinks Bud had nothing at that point in his life just ain't listening.

Pick out almost any song on Rubber Soul or Revolver and you have a great song by whatever definition you want to make up, be it the Sangry one or whatever formula you can come up with. The same goes for many Stones albums of the early to mid 60s, especially Behind the Buttons, one of my favorite albums of all times.

Ya know, I actually thought about doing it. That's how annoying I find those things. It's like a desecration to me, esp. the back of the BN cds.

Marcus, Received the discs today. The other two will be on their way very shortly. Thanks again for putting this together.
