  1. A lot of his 70s stuff seems to be on Steeplechase and Timeless, plus one on Black Lion and Enja. Some Black Lion material is being reuissed by 1201. Otherwise for that and Enja, you may have to look on Ebay. For Steeplechase, look at Jazzloft or CDUniverse. Maybe Jazzloft has Timeless. Worlds Records is always a possibility.
  2. Those are some pretty nice reviews by someone who sounds like he knows what's he talking about although I'd disagree with the Natural Soul disc. If this is a rocker magazine, they must have an intelligent jazz critic.
  3. I haven't listened to this in a loooong time, so this is a good opportunity. I'll pull it out tonight. I only the Mosaic so I guess that will just have to do .
  4. Approximately 42 Pounds translates to about $70. Assuming shipping is $15 or so, how can you not pass that up. That is an amazing per disc rate.
  5. I don't have a lot of the things you mentioned but I do have Midnight Creeper and Good Gracious and they're fine cds. Really love Good Gracious. Some serious organ going on in that one. My feeling about AMG is that if you like a particular artist and see a cd and they don't give it a good rating, who cares. They're only a guide anyway and not a be all as far as I'm concerned. They're a useful source but I try not to let myself be swayed by a review of someone I know. They're very useful if you're looking at someone you don't know that much about. Plus, their star system is just for a comparison of records made by that person, not by that person vis a vis person. But, I'm sure you knew that.
  6. I know they were available because I picked them up at a small store here in Jersey. It's possible there wasn't much fanfare about Jimmy Smith but I know there was about Jazz Immortal.
  7. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pass on these for now. I'd love to get all of them but finances being what they are, I'll have to wait to hopefully get them as gifts. My priorities there are the Amy, the Eldridge and the Pearson. The Eldridge, since will be available for a decent period of time, will have to be put off until next year .
  8. I think somebody had posted that back at the BNBB when the Select first came out. It's one of the best sites I've ever seen. Thanks for bringing that up again.
  9. Ditto! Actually, the email I received back in October said the 15th but maybe they're giving themselves 3 days to mail.
  10. Thought I'd bring this up again. There appear to be some good deals here. I just bought the Bud Powell Verve Box for $66 (including shipping). It goes for about $72 at CD Universe. They've listed another auction for this box, in case anyone's interested.
  11. Hope you get some conns for your birthday (but you probably have them all).
  12. Charles Kynard - The Soul Brotherhood - Prestige Sonny Stitt - At the DJ Lounge Shirley Scott - Queen of the Organ. Actually, any Shirley/Stanley date is good. Eddie Lockaw Davis - Going to the Meetin'. Also his date with Shirley, Bacalao. Lou Donaldson - Good Gracious The Cannonball date is not bad. I didn't like it at first but repeated listenings changed my mind. Give it a chance.
  13. Just a reminder, this is slated for reissue today by Quicksilver. A must, I believe, for any Tadd fans. It's available from Quicksilver directly for $12.98 (includes shipping).
  14. Happy birthday Dr. Freud, Red Menace, Sybill or whatever identity you're going by this week . If you're the Red Menace today, I assume you were born in 1917 or 1918, one old dude
  15. CS 500, why don't you contact the losing bidder in some of those auctions. They might be interested. Here are the links: Dexter Volume 3 and Dexter Volume 2. I just saw that all three volumes were listed yesterday. Here's the link for Volume 1. All opening bids at $9.99.
  16. Lon, Sent you an email. Brad
  17. I don't think that's a typo. There was an auction a couple of weeks ago where Volumes 2 and 3 went for over $100 although I believe Volume 1 went for about $25. Go figure.
  18. brownie, do you know or can you find out if the Stitt has bonus tracks. Also, just curious what the packaging is like: is it digi pack. I assume Amazon France will have these.
  19. What Bruce and others said. Never had a bad experience with them and they're pretty prompt.
  20. I'd have to echo the Louis Smith sentiments. I have the following, all of which I love: Jam Session Vol. 7, with Louis Smith, Mark Turner and Billy Mitchell (this just came out) Louis Smith - Soon Louis Smith & Jodie Christian – The Very Thought of You (this is a duet, but very, very good) From the 70s (I know you didn't ask about this era), check out the Kenny Drews and the Duke Jordans, not to mention the recent Dexter box.
  21. Man, you could only do better thatn if I they gave the stuff away, which is what they basically did.
  22. I'm looking for a copy of the Bud Powell Mosaic book. I doubt that anyone has a spare so I'd appreciate it if somebody could xerox it for me. Of course, I'll pay for all costs. If you can help, please pm me or email me at blewin2222@aol.com Thanks.
  23. Mark, If they're valuable photos, you might also want to think about insurance or sending it by UPS or some service that offers insurance.
  24. Jim, Bring it on big boy . We're waiting for you. I'm getting ready by going back and listening to every jazz song ever made . Do you want us to pm or email you about participating or later when you're closer with the final result?
  25. From what I heard a couple of months ago, Vlad is not the kind of person who would thrive well in New York. He's a kind of small town kind of person, who likes to be left alone and doesn't want the media bugging him and that he didn't want to go to a big media market. If that's still true, New York would not seem to be the place for him. Of course, money has a way of changing your outlook.
