  1. Tina Brooks' BN records are all worth hearing. Such a short but brilliant career, so glad BN released the rest. Black History month can't go by until you hear the local Cleveland news finally recognizing Albert Ayler, who was one of the last featured Black people showcased here in February. Donald Ayler should be noted too, I met him at CIA during a screening of a doc on the avant guard back in 2003 or so. In my opinion, learning the trumpet so quickly to add to Ayler's sound, shows his devotion to his brother. Not polished by any stretch, but he's there, and the whole Impulse! fiasco lead to both of their demises. Sad. Now playing:
  2. You're right, my numbers are off, it's 100,000,000 posts! Earlier yesterday morning, this great album was played and I I want to join and play it now, a stupendous record: Magnificent!
  3. Dude, seems like you just won some major award for a million posts 😁
  4. Awesome line-up. A West Coast session? Where and when she record with these dudes?
  5. Never saw this one. Awesome, DSM sleeve! Right, that's the Columbia repackaging. I also got the session wrong , it's this:
  6. Yeah, the Columbia is confusing, which I have, but I think (it's packed in a box) it's an Epic titled labeled "Tubbs" if memory serves me right.
  7. I guess, I should've read the "and many more!" portion on the back of the box, lols. Dueling flutes make sense. I just bought the Kirk boxset last year, and never realized I have this session. I have to sort through it, as the jewel cases nor booklet make it an easy find.
  8. Tubby and Kirk? I'm curious, impressions?
  9. Just thinking out loud, sounds like something similar to what happened in a bunker to a tee in Berlin near the end of WWII 🧐 I must add that you cannot "murder a dog" as dogs have no moral constitutionality; that only applies to human beings. The worst offense would be animal cruelty.
  10. Excellent. Couldn't believe my eyes when I found this cd in the dollar bin!
  11. Well at least one person is listening to it here, it's got to be listenable. YouTube or I'd pay $10 or so to listen. 😊
  12. It's on cd too, double whammy!
  13. Where did this record come from? WOW! So looking forward to the expanded edition. Just in light to a previous post, yeah, totally yeah. Candids. Great stuff.
  14. This one went in the trading bend. Not my favorite at all. I like his Novus/RCA Sextett stuff more. I know you known him, recorded him, had a beer with him, but far, sans the Novus/RCA material stuff mentioned above, after AIR, I'm trepidatious. P.S.: I have that AIR record. Great stuff.
  15. 👌 is some of the best live RRK, period. Now: Tal:
  16. So my son (16 now) asked me to play Miles (he stared at the wall, while were playing pool above; that's been there for years). We started with "So What" He dug it...WOAH! Coolest night of my life!
