I don't know why my grandfather was obsessed with McRibbs, this is about 1988, but we wound up driving to Corning, NY to get one, I was about 10 at the time, and it was really gross, and he swilled it down with Root Beer....gross!! Albert Tootie Heath died this year???

That one Connoisseur series (1998?) that included Grant Green's Solid and Hank Mobley's Third Season? What a great little reissue season that was.

Thinking back at all the Brooks dates that sat in the can, the other three, sans True Blue, are gems too. Love this record. Passing Ships, Pax, what amazing stuff.

Jazzbo, thank you for sharing those personal thoughts, it gets hard around the holidays for me too. I lost both parents before I was 40, but so grateful my wife's parents are still here; a treat! They can be pains in the asses, but I wouldn't trade that in for anything. I wish you the best of holidays!

My family have attended Cliff Habian's holiday concerts for years. Great guys. Number one. Period. Charlie Brown Christmas. Grew up to it and nearly 50 years later, hands down, still my favorite.

Became a staple in our Christmas listening, along with Charlie Brown's, for years.
