  1. I don't know why my grandfather was obsessed with McRibbs, this is about 1988, but we wound up driving to Corning, NY to get one, I was about 10 at the time, and it was really gross, and he swilled it down with Root Beer....gross!! Albert Tootie Heath died this year???
  2. That one Connoisseur series (1998?) that included Grant Green's Solid and Hank Mobley's Third Season? What a great little reissue season that was.
  3. Thinking back at all the Brooks dates that sat in the can, the other three, sans True Blue, are gems too. Love this record. Passing Ships, Pax, what amazing stuff.
  4. Yeah, especially the ones that sat in the can.
  5. This is how we start Christmas: Cliff Habian and Vince Guaraldi.
  6. Haydn, CD 2 String Quartets, OP 64. NOS. 1-3. Pilz Compact Disc, Kranzberg/Germany.
  7. Terrific music. Really enjoying these records way more than I did nearly 25 years ago, and the actual recording dates are 65 + years old now. Wow.
  8. Had a chance to buy an LP copy to hang on the wall, but chose not to, because the cut out was too big. Regret it now. BN Ornette music is pretty nice though. Tina Brooks-Minor Move-BN Conn 2000
  9. Haydn-Symphonies Nos. 48, 59 & 92. - Pilz Compact Disc, Kranzberg/Germany.
  10. Haydn-Sonatas Nos. 33, 38, 58, &, 60-Emanuel Ax-CBS Records Masterpieces
  11. Woah. Never seen nor heard this. Wow.
  12. Good stuff. I prefer live Dizzy than his studio work at this point.
  13. Wow, woah! So glad to hear there is some joy still to be felt. The fact that your families blend like that is truly amazing; keep that going! May they enjoy the snow, and snowball fights! A celebration to our parents; here and missed: First Snowfall-The Cliff Habian Trio-1998 Chilidog Records
  14. Jazzbo, thank you for sharing those personal thoughts, it gets hard around the holidays for me too. I lost both parents before I was 40, but so grateful my wife's parents are still here; a treat! They can be pains in the asses, but I wouldn't trade that in for anything. I wish you the best of holidays!
  15. Tina Brooks-The Waiting Game-BN Conn2002
  16. Great one! So happy to have found a used copy. Hutch and Land made sense. Tina convoy trucking through: back to the tracks (bn conn 1998)
  17. My family have attended Cliff Habian's holiday concerts for years. Great guys. Number one. Period. Charlie Brown Christmas. Grew up to it and nearly 50 years later, hands down, still my favorite.
  18. Became a staple in our Christmas listening, along with Charlie Brown's, for years.
  19. A few hours away from you, but we have snow, so you should too. Happy holidays! Harold Land is a treat and any record with BN Hutch is worth grabbing, but you probably already know this. Cheers!
  20. HAHA, got rid of that rag years ago. Pile of BS.
  21. No misunderstanding, we good. Just didn't agree with the critics, and I adore Richard Davis and Elvin Jones together, love it! And they like to smoke. Arguably, my favorite impulse! record jacket.
  22. Right? Never liked the Penguin review of this record. Tina Brooks marathon: True Blue-BN/RVG
  23. Now switching to Cavs/OSU games.
  24. Long meant tribute to a European giant (s): Fuck De Boere. Peter Brotzmann Group, 1970. FMP/UMS
  25. Ronnell Bright-Bright's Spot-Regent/Savoy
